2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-One Kansas

Blue skies and breezy in Kansas. Dale Jr is at the track. Alex Bowman has a stomach virus, but will be in the car. He said Jeff Gordon didn’t bring his stuff, so no relief driver for him. Kenseth will lead the field to the green flag. I was bummed to hear that Martinsville Speedway will add lights. I’ve watched various day races become night races and the racing has not improved with any of them. When night races are run during the day you typically see a better race – like last week’s race at Charlotte. Martinsville racing hasn’t been great the past couple of years and night racing at Martinsville is unlikely to improve the situation. Continue reading “2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-One Kansas”

2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Twenty-Nine Charlotte

Of course since this is a hometown race the cup guys are likely going to stink up to the show. It really seems Charlotte, of all the places on the schedule, would be one of the best opportunities for the cup drivers to coach, or something other than drive and let the Xfinity series drivers show their stuff, instead of beating the underdogs at home, in front of friends and family. Me and my sense of right and desire for equal opportunities or something. I’d just like to see the Xfinity series and the truck series be allowed to stand on their own and provide teams a more equal opportunity than the big money Sprint Cup series which rewards the flush. 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty Charlotte

Hurricane Matthew has finally relinquished its hold on the weather and the sun in shining in Charlotte this Sunday morning. Typically when a night race is rained out and occurs the next day, the racing is better. I hope that will be the case with this race. This will be a double-header race day with the Cup race and an elimination race for the Xfinity kids. Like here in Georgia yesterday Matthew seems to have left behind a lot of wind in Charlotte. We had the rain from the storm on Friday, then sunshine yesterday with a lot of wind. The Cup race will begin at noon and the Xfinity race will begin shortly thereafter. Congrats to Alex Bowman on his outside pole in Dale Jr’s 88 car! Not bad for a young substitute driver. Continue reading “2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty Charlotte”

2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Twenty-Nine Dover

Cloudy in Dover at race time. Sixteen laps in and the sun is breaking through the clouds. Kevin Harvick is in the garage with a track bar mount replacement operation underway. Since he has a win it’s really no harm no foul for him if he doesn’t get back on the track – he’s going to the next round.

Caution on lap 105 of 400 for Ryan Blaney slamming the outside wall. Continue reading “2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Twenty-Nine Dover”

2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race Eighteen Las Vegas

It was 90 degrees during qualifying in Vegas. They’re starting the race a couple hours earlier and it’s warmer than it has been for this race, so the crews are a bit unsure what to expect. Timothy Peters will lead the field to the green flag. Congratulations to TP on the pole.

Things were rained out at Dover today for Xfinity and Cup. The Xfinity series race is postponed to tomorrow.

Tyler Reddick wins. Continue reading “2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race Eighteen Las Vegas”
