We’ll begin with notes from the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Twenty-Seven at Kentucky:
Long race.
I’d given up on the race – not interested in watching Erik Jones stink up the show again – then he and Ty Dillon wrecked each other with 12 to go and I came back into the room to watch the finish.

The first race of the Chase will be held under lovely blue skies in Chicagoland. Kyle Busch leads the field to the green flag due to qualifying getting rained out on Friday.
Caution during green flag pit stops on lap 49 of 267 for Aric Almirola’s loose tire. The crewman rolled the tire to the wall, it bounced off and rolled across pit road into the grass. KHarv and Jimmie dodged the tire on their way into pit road, before the caution was thrown.

200 laps of racing at Chicagoland Speedway to set the field for the Xfinity Series’ inaugural Chase. Ho hum. I don’t really see where the Chase is going to add excitement to the series, but okay. Maybe, somehow, a different format will negate the boredom inspired by Cup drivers winning almost every Xfinity series race every week. I can’t see how, but maybe I lack imagination in this area. Since Kyle Busch is leading them to green, its really hard to imagine, but I do believe in miracles and wish for the best for this series. It’s the first year of the Truck Series chase and Chicagoland will set the field. Kyle Busch is running tonight so, unless his truck blows up, or he gets rookied, I think we know who’ll win the race. I’m pulling for ‘TP’ Timothy Peters to get in. He’s currently eighth – in the final position to get in. I just hope he doesn’t have some Martin Truex Jr type luck and miss out.

Richmond seems to have been unusually hot so far this race weekend. Not sure if that will affect this night race. The cars are doing parade laps four wide as a salute to the fans. It’s reportedly Fan Appreciation Week in Richmond. Denny Hamlin will lead the field to the green flag. For some reason, pre-race Dave Moody of MRN said the track was a mile and a half making it technically an intermediate track. How strange is that? Joe Moore opened the segment talking about the three-quarter mile Richmond International track. Once the corner guys finished their spiels, Joe repeated that the track is three-quarters of a mile.
