Matt Tifft (2) and Cole Custer (00) lead the field to green under cloudy skies at Road America at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Windscreen wipers are in place on the cars.
The stages are 10-10-25. 4.048 miles per lap.
Cole Custer is a mess behind the wheel. He drives like a drunken caveman – no finesse and seemingly no thinking at all.
Bill Elliott has a rookie stripe for this race. Someone, a couple weeks ago, called it his retirement race.
Australian James Davison (18) is in the JGR Toyota for this race.
James French (55) spun into the sand trap bringing out the first caution on lap 4 of 45.
The 66 of Carl Long is sitting off-course as the tv broadcast returns from commercial. Carl’s back underway according to MRN. According to NASCAR.com Carl stalled “on the track bringing out the caution”.
The Daniel Hemric (21) is in for a pit stop along witht a couple of other cars Elliott Sadler (1), Michael Annett (5) and Tyler Reddick (9). Winston Kelly says there’s a problem on the Reddick pit stop possibly with a jammed lugnut. Winston updated that Tyler Reddick was actually having brake issues that were being worked on under that pit stop.
Restarting on lap 7 of 45 with the same two leaders.
Cole Custer seriously locked ’em up heading into the Canada Corner. I’d be reconsidering my investment if he were my driver.
Katherine Legge (15) is also in this race.
Ryan Reed (16) has spun out into the grass bouncing off the wall and is spinning the tires trying to get it going. So far the green flag is still out.
Andy Lally (90) is also in this race along with Justin Marks (42).
Caution is finally out on lap 7 of 45 for Ryan Reed who was never able to get the car going.
The wrecker is dragging Ryan Reed’s car from the grass sideways.
Restarting on lap 9 of 45 with the same two in front.
The Brandon Jones (19) goes around on the last lap of the stage and taps the wall, but gets it turned around and restarted.
Custer has them lit up again as they head toward the hill. Christopher Bell (20) gets around him.
Matt Tiff wins the stage and check out Brendan ‘Uncle Brenny’ Gaughan (3) in third, Justin Marks in fourth and Jeremy Clements (51) in fifth. Nice to see different names in the top five. Especially nice to not see Cup drivers names in the top five.
‘Uncle Brenny’ decided to stay out so he will inherit the lead.
Brendan Gaughan and Austin Cindric (22), both of whom stayed out on the pitstops, will lead the field to the green flag on lap 12 of 45.
Austin Cindric is stopped on the track on lap 15 of 45. Daniel Hemric passed him, shortly thereafter Cindric’s car went up in smoke.
Restarting on lap 18 of 45 with Daniel Hemric and James Davison leading the field to the green flag.
The sun has popped out.
Ty Majewski (60) has spun in turn 6 according to MRN. The field stays green.
James Davison (18) comes in for a pit stop on lap 18 of 45.
Daniel Hemric wins stage 2. Elliott Sadler (1) finishes third and Justin ‘Dewy Alligator’ Allgaier (7) finishes fifth.
Justin Allgaier stays on track and will lead the field to the green alongside Brendan Gaughan.
They will restart on lap 23 of 45.
Katherine Legge also stayed out and will start in the third position.
Katherine Legge spins around in Canada Corner on lap 23 of 45. She spins back in the right direction in front of a lot of cars, but gets it going again. She went from fourth to twenty-fourth with that spin.
Green flag pit stops underway on lap 27 of 45.
Josh Bilicki (45) spun off track. Brendan Gaughan, James Davison and Cole Custer slide off the course in oil on turn three.
Caution on lap 28 of 45.
Tyler Reddick is driving off-course through the cut-through between turns 5 and 13 and he’s driving through the infield where the fans are according to MRN. Using the cut-through is a one lap penalty. Not sure what the penalty is for driving through the infield and the fans.
Matt Tifft who managed to stay on track through the oil is the leader with Brendan Gaughan in second.
Restarting on lap 31 of 45 with Justin Allgaier and Ryan Sieg (39) out front, both stayed out on the last round of pit stops.
Two cars off the track the Ryan Sieg (39) and Daniel Hemric (21) ran off course trying to stay off Brendan Gaughan who seemed unable to make the turn.
Another car spins out in a turn, gets it turned around and headed back in the right direction. Its in the little box so I couldn’t see which green car spun.
The 61 of Kaz Grala has spun out and is stopped, now it pulls off and continues.
Josh Bilicki brings out the caution on lap 37 of 45 crashing into the tire barrier.
Restarting on lap 38 of 45 withJustin Allgaier and James Davison up front. Matt Tifft (2) and Christopher Bell (20) in row two and Justin Marks and Cole Custer in row three.
The 23 of Bill Elliott spins out into the grass, then gets it turned around and headed back in the right direction.
Looks like Dewy made a sweet move on James Davison, but unfortunately we were stuck with a stupid camera shot and couldn’t see anything but Dewy passing Davison. What a crap replay – the replay is a helicopter shot where you still can’t really see what happened. What horrible camera work/selection!
The 38 of Brian Henderson was in a sandtrap but gets going again.
Christopher Bell (20) is spun around on lap 40 by Matt Tifft (2) who plowed into him in the corner.
Ryan Sieg (39) is run off the course by Joey Gase (35).
Christopher Bell makes a pit stop on lap 41 of 45.
Justin Marks is battling James Davison hard for second position. Davison has it, Marks wants it.
Brendan Gaughan and another car off track, but head back on track.
Justin Marks gets him but wiggles off the corner Davison gets besiide him.
Justin spun them both in the next corner.
Tifft, Custer, Hemric and Sadler get by before they can get back going.
Now we’re stuck with a split shot of the racetrack and watching the driver drive.
Justin ‘Dewy Alligator’ Allgaier is basically all alone up front. He has a 3-4 second lead at this point.
Dewy takes the white flag.
Back with the split shot. one side keeps going black. Dumb!
Justin Allgaier wins.
Congrats Elliiott Sadler on a fifth place finish.
