2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Twenty Indianapolis

Congrats to William Byron on his third Xfinity race win.

Nice battle at the end of the race between Will and Paul Menard.

Apparently NASCAR was testing a new package in this race and the end was definitely the best racing I’ve seen at this track in many years.

Congrats to Alex Bowman who was named the new driver of the 88 car in 2018.

We went to see the latest Spiderman movie. It was a lot of fun. I would say its the best Marvel movie I’ve seen – and since Bunny is a fan I end up getting dragged to most of them. This one was really enjoyable and quite funny. We agreed that it was funny in the way Deadpool attempted and failed miserably.

Surprisingly ended up not missing most of the race due to a weather delay apparently. When we got back from the movie they were in delay coverage with 12 laps completed. Continue reading “2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Twenty Indianapolis”

2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Nineteen Loudon

This seemed to be a race of attrition with the leaders. When someone would get out front and lead for a while it seemed a penalty was shortly forthcoming. On top of that typically about four cars would pull away from the rest of the field and battle amongst themselves or play follow-the-leader. Like yesterday’s race it was rather boring overall, though the countdown of distance between Kutey Kyle and Denny generated some pretty manufactured drama. 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Cup Series Race Seventeen Loudon

I always enjoy hearing the Canadian National anthem. The singers tend to do a better job with it than the majority of the Americans with the Star Spangled Banner.

Caution at lap 29 of 200 as David Starr hits the wall.

It’s been sprinkling at the track for a few laps.

They’re bringing the cars down pit road as the rain gets heavier. The race is red flagged at lap 31. Continue reading “2017 NASCAR Xfinity Cup Series Race Seventeen Loudon”

2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Eighteen Kentucky

Competition caution on lap 30 for a night race at Kentucky. KyBu got the pole for both the Xfinity and Cup races. He won the Xfinity race. Let’s see how things go with the big boys though quite a number of them were in the Xfinity race including Kevin ‘Happy’ Harvick, Ryan ‘Son’ Blaney and Joey ‘Squinty-Douchey’ Logano. There’s been a re-pave, again, of the track. Apparently there were issues with the previous re-pave that needed correction. They dragged tires after the Xfinity race in an attempt to widen the groove. Matt Kenseth has said he will not be back at Joe Gibbs Racing in 2018. The rumor mill has him going to the 88 car and Erik ‘Da Brat’ Jones moving into the JGR 20 car. Brat’s place on the Furniture Row team was believed to be temporary – until a seat opened at JGR. I think everyone believed he was awaiting Kenseth’s retirement. Kenseth indicated he’s not retiring, yet the seat will be open. Pretty crappy move on JGR’s part. Reminds me of moves by Michael Waltrip Racing and look how that washed out. Continue reading “2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Eighteen Kentucky”

2017 NASCAR Xfinity Cup Series Race Sixteen Kentucky

Wreck on the start that includes Brandon Jones, Brendan Gaughan, Ryan Reed, the 11 lifted th 62’s rear wheels and spun him around. KyBu didn’t get going, backed up the field and they ended up wrecking mid-pack. The race was postponed from yesterday due to weather. It was scheduled to begin after Cup qualifying. Qualifying was cut short due to the weather moving in and after a look at the radar and the weather to the west that was heading that way they decided to cancel everything for the evening and clear the track. There were thunderstorm warnings indicated on the radar and what appeared to be a hook echo as they call it. Stages for the race are 45-45-110. There will be a competition caution on lap 25.
