2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Five California

Martin Truex Jr wins.

Hmmm, Kevin Harvick took responsibility for a wreck with Kyle Larson that put KHarv in the wall. Odd.

We were out running errands so missed the first stage of the race and half the second stage. What I saw was thoroughly uninteresting.

2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Five California

Logano wins the Xfinity race in California. He seemed to be driving a car with a completely different engine package with the way he was able to drive away from the field. There was no competition and therefore no entertainment value for anyone who wanted to see a race. Really boring.

The 24 of Kaz Grala wrecked coming across the finish line slamming the wall hard.

Congrats to Justin ‘Dewy Alligator’ Allgaier and Elliott Sadler on their second and third place finishes respectively. They raced each other hard and clean and it was an enjoyable, extended battle for those good finishing positions.

Another boring race at Autoclub. I remember enjoying the racing there when I started watching NASCAR. Those days are long gone.

2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Four Phoenix

Daylight Saving Time begins today. Hooray! I’m a fan of it. The stages today are 75-75-162. Sounds like that last stage is going to be brutal to watch. That certainly was the case for yesterday’s Xfinity race. It was not worth the effort in the end. A boring race overall. Congratulations though to Justin Allgaier on his valiant effort and his second place finish. He seemed to just need a little more car at the end to provide a fitting finish to his good run. The sun is shining at the track today so theoretically it won’t be plagued with rain delays. For an exciting race a red flag for rain can ramp up the excitement. These days a race with weather threatening is typically an exercise in logging laps until the last 20 – at the most. Not worth the price of a ticket. I’m hoping for a surprisingly entertaining race with an exciting winner. It can happen. It can. I know, I know it probably won’t if past performance predicts future performance, but I can hope.

Competition caution at lap 35. Continue reading “2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Four Phoenix”

2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Four Phoenix

It’s cloudy in Phoenix. The MRN guys say they’re expecting to get the whole race in though they mention there’s precipitation in the nearby area. For some reason the tv broadcast has the horrid combination of Larry McReynolds and Michael Waltrip on a desk. What a nightmare. Whomever came up with that idea should be tested. Looks like Ryan Blaney might be headed to the booth for the race. That could be fun. Continue reading “2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Four Phoenix”

2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Two Atlanta

NASCAR is attempting to get the race in between the showers. Hurry-up-and-race. Rarely a good race when that happens. They set the start time ahead an hour – at 1300 eastern – but when that time arrived track drying was in progress. The drivers are now in the cars and the command has been given at 15:25 eastern. An article I read yesterday indicated the crews would be targeting a shortened race. I’m not sure if they’re still leaning that way. The PRN guys were saying its raining in the city of Atlanta, but not at the track. The cars are rolling for the parade laps. The temperatures are in the low 60s today and it appears to be breezy. Keenan Thompson did a good job with the command to fire the engines.

Kyle Busch with his first pole will lead the field to the green flag. Continue reading “2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Two Atlanta”
