2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Twenty-Nine Charlotte Roval

AJ Allmendinger (16) and Ty ‘LittleJoe’ Gibbs (54) are on the front row. Breezy, blue skies with white fluffy clouds reign over the Charlotte Roval course. There are 38 cars in the field. Three drivers did not make the field: Brennan Poole (52), Austin Wayne Self (22) and Gray Gaulding (47).The stages are 20-20-27.

Marco Andretti, member of the legendary racing family, makes his Xfinity Series Cup debut. Marco says he received the offer on the heels of his SRX Racing Series participation during the summer.

Kris Wright (68) brings out the caution on lap 9 of 67 missing the tire barrier and hitting the outside wall after seemingly losing brakes.

Wendy Venturini of PRN continues to do that weird voice, like she’s imitating a man, intermittently.

Stage on ends as it began with AJ Allmendinger (16) out front.

Stage two begins with Noah Gragson (9) and Sage Karam (02) leading the field to the green flag after staying out during the pit sequence.

A snoozer as expected. Cars driving around the track, and occasionally missing the track and/or hitting a wall. Ho hum.

The PRN team were discussing the strategy AJ Allmendinger uses and believe he’s hanging back and ‘saving his stuff’ as part of that strategy now.

Brandon Jones (19) finishes the stage first as the leaders pit near the end of of stage two as part of pit strategy.

Caution on lap 45 of 67 for an incident involving Jeb Burton (27) spinning out in front of the field and getting hit by Marco Andretti (48). PRN’s Wendy Venturini reports Marco says he may have hurt his wrist.

Caution on lap 49 of 67 for a slide by Preston Pardus (91). Also during that run there was some sort of issue involving Riley Herbst (98) who has a lot of rear damage and PRN reports James Davidson (18) has front-end damage. PRN reports the field backed up and James Davidson ran over the back of Riley Herbst.

Marco Andretti says it was fun, but he didn’t have much time to prepare and he was finally getting into a rhythm and had no idea a cur was turned around across the track and it was in a location where the spotter can’t see. He said his reflexes were better this time and he was able to get his thumb out of there, but it caught his wrist a little bit.

Caution on lap 55 of 67 for debris. Riley Herbst (98) has a flat left rear and was heading to pit road shedding parts bringing out the caution. Justin Allgaier (7) had part of a sign on the front of his car. Herbst pitted, started to leave, then backed up into his pit stall.

The Kaulig cars have a power-steering issue. All RCR affiliated cars have the issue.

An incident on lap 57 of 57 Timmy Hill (15), Riley Herbst (98), Ryan Vargas (6), Kaz Grala (34), Landon Cassill (10), Bayley Currey (4), Patrick Gallagher (38) get locked up in a corner. All of the cars drive away.

Caution on lap 58 of 67 for a spin by Sheldon Creed (2).

Caution on lap 65 of 67 for debris from a flat right front on the Joe Graf Jr (07) car.

The event will restart in overtime with AJ and LittleJoe up front.

Riley Herbst goes spinning off track and into the grass and then into a couple of signs.

Caution is out.

Riley Herbst finally gets out of the car and into the ambulance for a ride to the Care Center. Ryan Sieg (39) got into Daniel Hemric’s (11) left rear. Hemric lost the back end, but managed to get control and continue forward. Both are racing to get into the next round.

Another overtime restart with AJ Allmendinger (16) and ‘LittleJoe’ (54) up front followed by teammates Noah Gragson (9) and Justin Allgaier (7).

Something happened to a car, but since tv was showing a shot from way overhead and there was a lot of smoke I’m not sure whom, or what happened. PRN reports it was Stefan Parsons (45) who went around. The PRN broadcast is about a lap and a half behind the television broadcast.

AJ Allmendinger takes the white flag.

AJ Allmendinger (16) wins another dull Roval event.

No excitement. No competition. Little intensity – that would be the performances of Riley Herbst (98) and Ryan Sieg (39), both trying to get into the next round. AJ won the event for the fourth time in a row. No intensity. No excitement. No competition. Not unpredictable. Not worth watching.

Moving on to the next round of the playoffs are:

      • AJ Allmendinger (16)
      • Noah Gragson (9)
      • Ty Gibbs (54)
      • Justin Allgaier (7)
      • Josh Berry (8)
      • Sam Mayer (1)
      • Austin Hill()
      • Brandon Jones(19)

The following drivers do not advance to the next round:

      • Ryan Sieg (39)
      • Daniel Hemrick (11)
      • Riley Herbst (98)
      • Jeremy Clements (51)
