Aric Almirola (10) and Chase Briscoe (14) will lead the 36 car field to the green flag. The stage lengths for tonight’s race are 125-125-250 laps. I miss seeing Drivers Intros for the night race AND being able to just watch and hear the songs as though I was there. The couple of times NBC deigned to show pieces of Bristol night race driver intros they talked throughout and only showed pieces. It was totally no bueno. I very much miss SPEEDTV and their awesome coverage and ABC/ESPN and their (mostly) professional coverage. Unfortunately they were saddled with Brad Daugherty, but otherwise their desk and booth were quality.
Kyle Busch (18) blows up in fifth position on lap 269 of 500.
Chris Buescher (17) wins.
Messy race. Awful television coverage. I was unable to see on-track action due to the gimmick shots. We saw some of the cars that were damaged in an incident, but they never showed what happened to those cars. The best shot they had of one car’s issues was a windscreen shot and you couldn’t really see what happened. It looked like the car approached the bumper of the car ahead, then slowed down, but there was no indication of what caused the damage that was seen on pit road.
I listened to the PRN broadcast which put me to sleep.
It’s a cut-off race. The following drivers are eliminated:
-
-
- Tyler Reddick (8)
- Kyle Busch (18)
- Austin Dillon (3)
- Kevin Harvick (4)

Boring broadcast. I’m not sure if the race was as boring as the broadcast of the race, but the television product was mostly unwatchable for anyone who wants to watch a NASCAR race. There were some unpredictable moments due to tire issues. The intensity didn’t seem to be there, but I don’t know if that was due to the attrition due to tire issues, or if it was just not there. It felt like they ran this race like it was a late race and they simply wanted to get through it and get home to their families. The competition level seemed okay, because there were different leaders throughout the event. There was zero excitement during the event, thought there were unexpected occurrences that added moments of interest.
Doug Rice and Mark Garrow of PRN talked a lot throughout the event. The pit reporters yelled off and on. Rarely did it seem they were talking about anything interesting. Not a great call, but it beats the NBC call all day long.
