Weather is expected before the end of the race. NBC Sports reports there was a heavy shower around 1pm local time at the track today. The race is official at halfway, lap 130.
As they pass the halfway point the radar shows rain and the pit reporters are saying the pit boxes are telling their drivers don’t save fuel meaning they’re expecting weather. One of the tv guys said it’s likely 25 minutes away.
1947 eastern the IndyCar Radio reporters are saying they’re feeling raindrops.
1954 eastern red flag conditions for moisture.
1957 eastern reportedly the rain is coming down heavier and there have been flashes of lightning
The track was lost to the rain and track drying was ongoing for several hours.
Drivers are in the cars and engines have been fired at 2206 eastern.
2207 cars are heading onto the track. Some are stalling on pit road as they attempt to return to the track with 43 laps to go on lap 217 of 260.
Caution flag is out at 2208 eastern and the cars are making parade laps.
