38 car will take the green flag to run a scheduled 46 laps at COTA. Cup drivers Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (18), and Cole Custer (07) will compete in the race as well as former IndyCar driver Sage Karam (44). The stages for the event are 14-16-16.
The trucks raced under sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-80s.
The last lap of the Truck series race was competitive and included unexpected moves that led to a surprising outcome. Bravo. Clouds were making appearances as the Truck race came to a close.
Cup drivers Kurt ‘KuBu’ Busch and Joey Logano join Adam Alexander in the FS1 booth. Inexplicably someone gave Coleman Pressley a microphone and they go to him all too frequently. Apparently they didn’t feel they had enough nasally toned folks with the microphone. He’s more irritating to listen to than Jamie Little.
Green flag pit stops are underway on lap 10 of 46.
Green flag pit stops on lap 27 of 46.
So far this has been a very long, very boring race. The cars aren’t doing anything interesting. The drivers even less. The camera-work is awful; lots of desperation shots – usually while something is actually happening on-track. The audience sees the live action from an angle that doesn’t allow you to figure out what’s going on followed by one or too many replays that look like a race broadcast.
Sam Mayer (1) wins stage two.
Caution on lap 33 of 46 for debris.
Restarting on lap 35 of 46.
Caution on lap 37 of 46 for debris.
Restarting on lap 40 of 46.
The event ends with AJ Allmendinger (16) up front.
That race never stopped being boring. I wonder if it was the awful television video. I enjoyed listening to Joey Logano and Kurt Busch chat, but they were the only entertaining areas of the event. It seemed never-ending.
