Chris Buescher, the championship leader finished 8th. He has a 24 point lead in the championship race. Chase Elliott finished 7th and moved from 3rd to 2nd in the championship points race. Elliott Sadler finished 9th and Daniel Suarez, who leads the Rookie of the Year battle, finished 10th. J.J. Yeley finished 12th. Congrats J.J.!<\/p>\n
Travis Pastrana returns to the Truck Series – at least for this week. It’s good to see Travis. I thought he gave up too soon. He has talent, he just doesn’t really have experience. The only way he can get experience is putting his butt in the driver’s seat weekly. I think his expectations exceeded the laws of physics. I’m glad he’s in a truck this week and I hope he does well. I’d like to see more of him going forward.<\/p>\n

Austin Thierault hits the wall hard after getting hit by teammate Tyler Reddick, who was struggling to get control of his truck, early in the race. He was helped out of the car by the emergency services crew. He went to the ground beside the truck almost as soon as he was out of his race truck. They put on a backboard and into an ambulance. Phil Parsons said he displayed a ‘thumbs up’ to the crowd. They took him to the infield care center, then relatively quickly loaded him onto the helicopter to take him to an area hospital ‘for further evaluation’.<\/p>\n

They are saying that Travis is contracted to work with Nitro Circus until 2018 then he hopes to get back into racing. I have to wait 2 years to see him try to resume his career. Sigh. Oh well, something to look forward to.<\/p>\n
Michael Waltrip needs a vacation, a permanent vacation from on-air. Dale Jarrett needs a reality check. Someone should let him know his NASCAR Hall of Fame push was due to name recognition as a result of his on-air work as opposed to him being more deserving than many of the people not yet in the Hall of Fame. I hope when he gets that through his thick head maybe he will stop babbling like<\/p>\n

He was sacked today following a draw in the Merseyside derby.<\/a> The change was long overdue.<\/p>\n Matt Kenseth leads the field to the green flag on a gray, cloudy, windy day. Jimmie Johnson makes his 500th Sprint Cup start. Martin Truex Jr (78) qualified ninth, but will start at the back of the field due to a pre-race inspection infraction.<\/p>\n lap 3 of 400 Jeb Burton (23) and Josh Wise (32) get together and Jeb ends up in the wall bringing out the first caution.<\/p>\n Competition caution comes out on lap 40 of 400.<\/p>\n Jimmie Johnson takes the 48 to the garage on lap 108 of 400.<\/p>\n Jimmie is back on the track 37 laps down. Caution on lap 112 of 400 for debris during a commercial break.<\/p>\n Fourth caution is out on lap 193 of 400 for Jeb Burton hitting the wall.<\/p>\n The restart was waved off due to a duck on the track. The duck eventually flew behind the pit wall and the race restarted on lap 207.<\/p>\n Caution for debris on lap 232 of 400<\/p>\n Caution is out with 46 laps to go as Brett Moffitt hits the wall.<\/p>\n The blabbers have been babbling non-stop about the points as the race was run – constantly, starting shortly after the beginning of the race.<\/p>\n Caution is out with 29 to go for Landon Cassill (40) having an engine issue and putting down fluid.<\/p>\n It’s interesting, the race itself is pretty pedestrian. Their incessant chatter makes a boring race exhausting to watch. I’m glad they’re excited to be the broadcast team, but they need to get excited to be professional broadcasters and learn how to do television. People used to be taught that dead air in radio is a bad thing, therefore you talk a lot and explain at lot. On television where you have pictures that can tell the story, you add depth and color to what the audience sees. You call attention to the dramatic events and provide a richer experience for the audience. It isn’t radio though, therefore there should be times to listen to the audio from the event while watching the audio from the event WITHOUT incessant chatter. Also, if you’re constantly yelling and shouting and nothing exciting is actually happening on-track, two things happen: 1. The loud volume no longer gets the viewer’s attention because, 2. The viewer no longer believes something exciting\/interesting\/different is happening when you’re yelling, because you constantly yell over nothing, so you become totally ineffective.<\/p>\n There have been fires in the Xfinity race and at the Cup race this weekend after drivers have hit the walls, more than usual it seems. No one has been injured from the fires, but it just seems there were more than usual this weekend.<\/p>\n Kevin Harvick (4) wins <\/p>\n Dale Jr (88) finished third ahead of Jamie McMurray (1) putting Booboo into the next round and putting Jamie Mc out of the next round. Martin Truex Jr finished 11th. Kyle Busch (18) finished second and moved to the next round.<\/p>\n So the four who will not move on to the next round for the championship:<\/p>\n Congrats to Kasey Kahne on his sixth place finish.<\/p>\n Pretty much all of the drivers talked about being unable to pass during the Xfinity and Cup races. Kyle Busch seemed really angry that the inability to pass kept him in third place and unable to really challenge Denny and Regan for the win.
