Blue skies in Bristol as television coverage begins. Of course the volume is muted, no need to subject myself to the babble yet. I miss watching pre-race coverage that got me excited about the upcoming race. Steve Byrnes rest in peace. I miss you and I miss Trackside, when it was great, before Petty Kyle.<\/p>\n

I’d forgotten this was the race where the driver intros include a song selection by the drivers. I loved watching that from start to finish. Unfortunately this year, we only catch occasional glimpses and listens to the action. Luckily we were able to see J.J. Yeley come out dressed as fat Elvis and get introduced by his precocious daughter. It was quite entertaining. Sadly we’re subjected to babbling by the talentless trio instead of just being allowed to see and hear the FUN of the driver introductions for the night race at Bristol. I so very much miss good race coverage!!!!<\/p>\n
It’s a crying shame that Dale Jarrett is in the NASCAR Hall of Fame and Buddy Baker isn’t. A shame. People say life isn’t fair – there goes your proof!<\/p>\n
Michael Waltrip Racing will cease operations at the end of this year since Rob Kauffman moved his money to Chip Ganassi racing. Once upon a time I would’ve been bummed for Mikey. His behaviour over the past few years leaves me feeling differently. I wonder if he’s experiencing karma. He’s become so unsavoury, I find it impossible to feel he doesn’t deserve it. I miss the days when he seemed sweet and lovable – though I’d rather know who you really are than believe a lie.<\/p>\n

I just have to add that Kasey Kahne walked into a camera shot pre-race and I was unable to remember what I’d been doing before he appeared. He has a really short haircut – and I prefer his hair long – but he looked amazing! I hope the bad luck disappears soon for him. He’s a talented driver, but he can’t seem to catch a break or make luck.<\/p>\n
Looks like the teams will have a week off next week, then Labor Day at Darlington. I didn’t manage to score tickets so I guess I’ll be watching it from home.<\/p>\n
