I will miss DW until February. I just don’t have much faith in the upcoming NBC broadcast team. For me, anyone that would hire Petty Kyle and Krista for broadcasting is less than reputable – going for cheap rather than quality. I might be surprised, but I have my doubts. At least we’ll be rid of Larry Mc in the booth. Now if we could get Michael Waltrip off the desk and not have him replaced by someone equally useless. It’s a beautiful day in Sonoma. They did a tribute to Jeff Gordon on lap 24 which was nice. Its hard to imagine a NASCAR season without Jeff Gordon. While I’ve only been watching NASCAR religiously since shortly before Jimmie won the third championship, and been listening since the second, I’ve watched and followed NASCAR off and on since I was a child, so I’ve known of Jeff Gordon since shortly after he began his NASCAR career. I’ll miss him driving.

Martin Truex Jr hit the tire barrier hard after a turf war with David Ragan. Martin’s bad luck seems to have only relented for a little while – didn’t disappear, though a little patience on his end would’ve allowed them both to continue racing.

David Gilliland hit the tires earlier when his left from tire gave way. His hit was hard, but Truex’s car moved the concrete barrier behind the tire barrier with the force of the impact.

Hard racing continues on lap 44 of 110.

Hard hit on the driver’s side for J.J. Yeley with 38 laps to go.

With 32 to go David Ragan and Carl Edwards get together and hit the wall. The 55 went up in flames after he drove away from the wreck. They hit the concrete wall before the hitting the tire barrier. David Ragan has climbed out of his car and is heading to the ambulance for a ride to the infield care center. Carl is still in the 19. Crew Chief Darien Grubb asked Carl to bring the car back to them if he could get it started. Carl is coming out of the car now with 31 laps to go.

With 12 to go Casey Mears loses the tire, the wheel, the caliper, the axle, and the rear-end housing bringing out a caution.

Matt DiBenedetto got spun into his pit box when he was hit by one of the track trucks as he was heading to his pits.

The lights are still on on the pace car as they cross the line with eight to go still under caution.

The lights are out on teh pace car now, so we’ll restart with seven to go. The first five cars stayed out on this caution. Clint Bowyer is the first care with fresh tires. Jimmie Johnson and Jamie McMurray leads them to the green.

Danica Patrick spins into the grass with 7 to go and she gets restarted and continues.

With five to go Kyle Busch takes the lead from Jimmie.

McDowell spun around and off the course with four to go but gets it going again. With three to go McDowell is creeping around the track. He gets it going and the race continues. McDowell turned into the drag strip area to get him off the course instead of trying to get back onto pit road.

While flag is out. Kurt has has passed Clint Bowyer for second.

Kyle Busch wins, Kurt comes in second.

Samantha is crying. That woman needs a job! She’s a little too invested in Kyle’s job. It’s great that Kyle won, but I hope the sobbing is a result of her hormones being all over the place. I am all for supporting your husband, but that is a little too invested in a job/performance that isn’t yours. She seems to want to be a strong woman – I hope she knows independence – not living off your guy – is a part of being a strong woman.

Jimmie finished sixth.

This is Adam Stevens’ first trip to victory lane. Kyle says his foot hurts a little bit, but not as bad as he thought it would. Braxton is at home. They didn’t subject him to a six hour flight. Samantha flew in this morning.

Jeff Gordon finishes 16th in his 23rd Sonoma race. He’s won the race five times. “The next time we see Jeff Gordon on FOX he’s going to be in the booth with you Mike.” I look forward to that.

Nice piece on Landon Cassill on his transition into an endurance athlete with comments from his wife Kaitlyn and views of his baby Beckham. He’s training on the swim with an Olympic hopeful. He eats a plant based diet. He does his biking in the basement.

Since this is the final NASCAR race for 2015 on FOX, FOX Sports Live kicked it to Chris Myers and Michael Waltrip who babbled a bit then threw it to Mike, DW and Larry Mc.

Now they’ve thrown it to Jamie Little – ick – then Chris Neville – yuck – then to Vince Welch – yay – then to Matt Yocum – yippee! Started weak and got better, then back to Chris Myers. Jamie Little has regressed this season. She was very slowly improving on ESPN, but it seems she lost ground. I hope her improvement resumes next year – she’s said some pretty wrong things (and worn worst things) this season. Neville never gets any better, nor any worse, but he’s rarely offensive. Vince is good at his job and I enjoy his work. Same for Yocum. I look forward to seeing Vince and Matt next year.

In NASCAR news this week:

France Issues Statement on Confederate Flag.

NASCAR’s Dale Earnhardt Jr. backs ban on Confederate flag.

NASCAR chairman wants Confederate flag eliminated at races.

Homecoming Tour for Jeff Gordon.

2016 DAYTONA 500 Tickets On Sale Now.

Kahne to be a Father.

NASCAR and HMS Team with Microsoft.

Grand Funk Railroad to Perform at Darlington.

Cargill to Return with Stenhouse.

Dale Jr. Talks about Germany Trip.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. chose a significant spot for surprise proposal.

Allmendinger Scores Sonoma Pole.

Pit Road Controversy Explained.

RCR Swaps XFINITY Crew Chiefs.

Next Race: Daytona

GO 48!!!!

Last race on FOX.
