The Easter break always seems to come too quickly too me – too early in the season to be taking a break. Happy Birthday Kasey Kahne. Kasey turned 35 Friday. Get well Steve Byrnes. Byrnsey was released from ICU. He’s dealing with pneumonia and blood clots on top of everything else. Sigh. Michael Waltrip is wasting time with his stupid track walk or whatever its called. I don’t understand why it continues, but then again I don’t get why he still has a job doing anything broadcast related at this point. The only entertaining part of that is when the drivers are honest with him and call him on his stupidity. It’s ridiculous. No More Michael Waltrip PLEASE!!!

Uverse continues to block the races formerly known as the Nationwide race, now known as the Xfinity race which is the reason for the blocking. I’m kinda bummed, but I’m kinda in a ‘don’t know what I’m missing’ space too, because the racing may be as boring as last season, or it may be better this season. Hard to say and since there’s nothing I can do about it either way, it is what it is. I’d planned to watch Race Day, but its a free HBO weekend and I was watching a movie and forgot about Race Day. That still makes me sad, because I used to love Race Day so much that I would always make sure I caught it and would be bummed when it was less than two hours.

So now we’re starting to see where the ABC/ESPN folks have landed. FOX has picked up Jamie Little, Vince Welch, Dave Burns, Wally Dallenbach, and Andy Petree it appears. I’m thrilled to see Petree, though we don’t see him nearly enough. Also it’s always great to see Wacky Wally. The other three are there and that’s about the best I can say for them. Jamie has improved from where she started, but the improvement stopped a couple years ago, and she needs improvement – maybe she no longer has the quality to emulate and study.

It’s a grid walk – Michael said it again. I need a new television. It looks like DW and Larry McDumDum are wearing matching jackets and its tough for me to believe that would happen. Michael dropped food on Denny Hamlin’s car during the foolishness. Its pathetic. I can’t quite figure out who’s in charge at FOX who’s determined to make NASCAR on FOX a farce. Well if that’s what NASCAR wants…so be it.

Just as I was thinking it looked cloudy in Texas, Chris Myers said there is a chance of rain in the area, but not at the track. Kurt Busch leads them to the green flag with Kevin Harvick also on the front row.

So Erik Jones won the Xfinity race yesterday, so now Joe Gibbs has gone back on his, we don’t want to rush him, and is saying Sprint Cup racing is in his near future. It seemed he was trying to avoid making the same mistake he made with Joey Logano, guess we’re either not worrying about it, or think Erik Jones is more ready than Joey was. I think he should really look at Kyle Larson and make that decision. I mean he’s driving well, but passing out from ‘dehydration and hunger’ this early in the season (not following a race, but during an autograph signing). That doesn’t sound like a well-adjusted driver to me.

Unsurprisingly Alex Kennedy brings out the first caution on lap 32 for 334 with a spin.

The race has continued relatively uneventfully. There have been a few cautions for minor incidents. The lead has changed occasionally. It’s been a typical Texas race, though not a stultifyingly boring as it can be. The cautions have mostly occurred during commercial breaks, though we’ve just had one for Michael Annett in the 46 getting into the wall on lap 250 of 334.

Justin Allgaier brings out the caution at lap 260 of 334 as he gets into the wall. His name has been called quite a bit this evening and never for anything positive. Dewey spilled oil and debris in Jimmie and Kasey’s pits as he headed to the garage. The crews are desperately trying to get the stalls cleaned, but there’s a lot of stuff laid down.

There was just a bunny on the track. It hopped onto the track then out through a hole in the wall.

Caution is out for debris with 40 laps to go. Matt Kenseth in the 20 brushed the wall.

Caution is out on lap 308 for debris. AJ Allmendinger hit the wall and Cole Whitt had a tire go down.

Harvick brushed the wall with three to go, but keeps going.

Jimmie WINS!!!

Dale Jr finished third. Kasey Kahne finished eighth. Martin Truex Jr. finished ninth.

Jimmie says he woke up with a cold this morning. Chad says he has a cold and Jeff Gordon is also ill. Something going around Hendrick it seems.

In NASCAR news this week:

Larson Cleared to Race.

RCR to Appeal Penalties.

Gordon ‘Rolls’ Into Washington.

Like Father, Like Son – The Gillilands.

Blaney, Wood Brothers Back On Track.

Teams Complete Richmond Test.

RCR Statement on Appeal of Penalties.

Larson Mentors Young Racer.

Front Row Adds Races for Buescher.

Bristol Race Renamed to Honor Steve Byrnes.

Larson Learns From Experience.

Truex Jr. Rolling Along.

Jones Scores First XFINITY Win.

Rusty Wallace to compete in off-road truck race at X Games.

Domestic violence group asks NASCAR to take tougher stance.

Next Race: Bristol

GO 48!!!!

So, Texas tonight after a weekend off.
