Reinforced my notion that this is not an ideal race weekend. It has stopped raining as race time approaches, and the temperature has risen into the 40s. Ugly weather for sitting outside. Glad I’m sitting inside.

David Ragan is making his debut in the Joe Gibbs Racing #18 Crispy M&Ms Toyota Camry. Go Thrilla!

Mike Joy says its 42 degrees with a light breeze at the track. Heavy clouds all around.

There’s apparently fog and rain in turn three as they’re doing the parade lap. As Mike Joy is watching the ceiling is dropping more and more.

After many parade laps, they’ve been given one to go. At 2:12 they’re underway for, theoretically, 325 laps.

Austin Dillon loses a tire, but NASCAR called it a debris caution so, amazingly, he gets the free pass. The debris did damage to several cars.

Austin loses another tire, spins out, and brings out the caution. This one counted against him. Once again the debris did damage to several cars.

Landon Cassill blowed up and brought out the fourth caution on lap 94.

Green flag pit stops as follow-the-leader continues.

Caution is out on lap 175 for debris.

Shortly after the restart another caution on lap 182 for debris. Looks like Jeb Burton got into the wall.

Another round of green flag pit stops with 100 laps to go.

Caution on lap 253 for debris.

Wreck on the restart on lap 257 as Denny Hamlin goes sideways and collects Jeff Gordon, Jamie McMurray and Ryan Newman in the process.

Atlanta added tire barriers today after Kyle Busch’s wreck in Daytona. Jeff Gordon’s car found the spot where the SAFER barrier ends and ended up hitting the concrete wall.

Carl Edwards in the 19 loses a left rear tire and is slowly heading toward the pits with 52 laps to go.

Green flag pit stops again with 32 laps to go.

Caution is out with 28 to go as Cole Whitt in the 35 blows up.

Big wreck with 20 to go that collected Stenhouse, Biffle, Nemecheck, Bowyer, Smoke, Regan Smith, Sam Hornish Jr and Kyle Larson. It appears Biffle caught Nemechek’s left rear and the rest piled into the smoke.

The race is red flagged.

Jimmie Johnson will lead them to the green flag with 14 laps to go.

Jimmie WINS!!!

Dale Jr finishes third after giving Jimmie a hard battle on the restart.

This is Jimmie’s 71st victory and 21st mile-and-a-half track win.
