Denny Hamlin got the pole to lead the field to the green for 160 laps. He was really feeling himself on Friday and seems to feel certain he will take home the trophy this weekend.

I’d forgotten this was the depressing part of the season with the worst coverage until last night when we were talking about practice and Bunny was complaining about Petty Kyle and Larry Mc. We are both chanting the mantra, it’s only for six weeks, its only for six weeks. So I skipped most of the pre-race stuff unwilling to be subjected to more of the crap coverage than necessary.

This is the final TNT season. I’m glad, though I fully well realise the NBC coverage may be worst. I look at the changes Fox made in coverage and they certainly didn’t go in the right direction! Michael Waltrip is never the right direction to improve anything! Still I’m hopeful that the NBC coverage will favorably compete with and exceed FOX’s coverage. I’d like to see NASCAR return to ABC. ESPN isn’t appropriate in my opinion since they’re more about show business (like Fox Sports 1) and disrespectful. I’m hoping next season will provide fans great, improved coverage for the entirety of the season. I just hope they don’t hire the talentless losers from the other networks losing coverage. There will be a few people who should replace the mistakes currently on-air, so maybe when the music stops those seats will be filled by talented broadcasters for a change.

Okay, so why on Earth is the audio repeating itself over and over? Everything that’s being said is being said twice 18 laps in. I think we’re hearing the original call and the delayed call. Once is boring enough. The repetition is insane.

I fell asleep during the truck race at Texas on Friday. It was a really long week. I saw German Quiroga blow up and fell asleep shortly thereafter.

Back from commercial it seems they may have gotten the audio issue resolved.

The only good thing about the TNT coverage is Race Buddy. It gives me an option to avoid the horrible announcing without too many disruptions.

Caution is out on lap 33 which seems to be for a fire in the infield in turn 3 possibly from pre-race fireworks. That’s the other problem, the booth team never seems to have any idea what is happening on the track or why. They never see anything developing and apparently are unable to look out the window at the track and see what is happening live. Its weird, unless the director/technical directory shows the picture on-air, they’re lost. Sad.

Caution is out on lap 60. Many cars have made green flag pit stops. I’m listening to Race Buddy at the moment, so I don’t know why the caution is out. The 48 slowed down which made me check. Ah debris.

Caution is out on lap 72. MRN just went to commercial so they didn’t say why. TV just showed the car of JJ Yeley seemingly blowing a tire and spraying tire debris in its wake. They haven’t had a decent shot of anything yet. Madness!

Jimmie just had mad trouble as a result of Marcos Ambrose hitting Jimmie. Jimmie was leaving his pit stall, Marcos was coming in. Jimmie backed the car from Marcos’ stall into his pit stall.

Caution is out on lap 80 for a spin by Dave Blaney in the 77.

Caution on lap 118 for oil on the track after Kevin Harvick blew a tire.

The final green flag pit stops are underway at lap 130 of 160.

This race has been like the old Pocono races. Basically we just watch cars drive around in circles. There has been a teeny bit of passing and a little bit of challenging for position, but its a bit light on action.

Caution on lap 138 for Danica Patrick hitting the wall. She likely cut a right-side tire.

Kharv is back on the lead lap after cutting down that tire.

Caution on lap 144 as Kasey Kahne and Carl Edwards get into each other and the wall. Kasey continued going for a bit, but couldn’t turn and hit the wall again a bit later. It looks like Kyle Busch may have ran Kasey up into the wall in front of Carl Edwards who said there was oil all over the track and caused him to plow into them. Carl headed to the garage after his pit crew took a quick look at the 99 on pit road.

Kasey said he got a run on KyBu and Kyle knew if he Kasey got past him he’d lose the position and he didn’t care that Kasey was outside of him and he ran Kasey into the wall.

Joey Logano apparently lost an engine on the restart.

Dale Jr WINS!!!

‘It’ (Brad Keselowski) claimed his car was going to blow up so he tried to follow the 10 to get the debris off his grill and he checked up too much, because he thought he had more room. He said everything was good except for his mess up.

Denny is less than thrilled with his fourth place finish.

This is Dale Jr’s first win at Pocono. He’s feeling bad for ‘It’ losing it that way, but feeling good for winning it that way when they’ve lost quite a few in weird ways. He said he doesn’t have anything to do tomorrow so its going to be a long one tonight. He said Brad had a better car and he’ll own up to that. He’s very pleased and he said he really means it when he talks about his team. “They’re a helluva team.” “Wins aren’t really anything unless you can enjoy them with good people.” “I’m having the best time of my life.”

Unofficial Top Ten:

Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Brad Keselowski

Kurt Busch

Denny Hamlin

Kyle Larson

Jimmie Johnson

Ryan Newman

Jeff Gordon

Martin Truex Jr.

Jamie McMurray

Next Race: Michigan

GO 48!!!!

The sun is shining on the first TNT race of the season in Long Pond Pennsylvania.
