\"201405252146783619439\"<\/a>Okay, it’s been a while since I’ve race blogged. They’ve just been too boring to bother to talk about. There were a few minor notable incidents, but they were minor. Overall, in spite of what the announcers and SiriusXM talking heads are selling, I’ve not seen great racing since very, very early in the season and qualifying isn’t worth watching anymore. It may be exciting to them to watch cars sit and watch the clock wind down, then hurriedly get in a line to make a lap or two, but it doesn’t do a thing for me except leave me dependent on them to figure out who’s fastest. Watching what looks like practice is less interesting to me than watching a single car race the clock and seeing the speed.<\/p>\n

The most surprising part of it is that NASCAR seems to do most things just to make the marketing people happy. This can’t be as good for marketing as showcasing a single car (and its sponsor) for a two or three laps around the track and showing them gaining or losing the pole.<\/p>\n

Kurt Busch is at the track. His plane and helicopter landed a few minutes ago. Kurt finished 6th in the Indianapolis 500 at 15:16. Good job KuBu! Ryan Hunter-Reay won holding off Helio Castroneves. Nico Rosberg won the Gran Prix of Monaco beating out his teammate Lewis Hamilton who has been ragging on him hard throughout the week in the press.<\/p>\n

There have been a number of the night races I’ve fallen asleep on or left to go to bed during. They were just boring and not worth watching to the end. Others I listen to the radio broadcast and glance at occasionally. The MRN guys sell the race hard, so it sounds way more exciting than it actually looks.<\/p>\n

The 2015 NASCAR Hall of Fame class was announced on Wednesday. Congrats to the vote-getters.<\/p>\n

Jeff Gordon has been having back spasms and Regan Smith is on standby just in case. Big Daddy had to cut practice short yesterday due to his back issues, but he expects to race today after getting treatment for his back.<\/p>\n

First caution on lap 107 for debris after the second green flag pit stops for most teams.<\/p>\n

There have been additional cautions as the race has rolled on, notably a caution for Kurt Busch’s expiring engine. Danica also blew an engine after being collected in a Marcos Ambrose spin which wreaked havoc behind him collecting Landon Cassill, Brian Scott and Danica.<\/p>\n

Caution is out on lap 380 for Alex Bowman blowing up making all the fuel-mileage strategies almost moot points.<\/p>\n

Jimmie Johnson wins!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Record win<\/strong><\/em>
\nJimmie Johnson breaks tie with Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip for most wins at Charlotte. He now has seven, which is the most among all drivers.<\/p>\n
