Jimmie Johnson leads the field to the green having broken the track record in qualifying.

Danica brings out the first caution on lap 15 as she tries to pass Kenny Schrader and finds out Kenny Schrader is not Landon Cassill or David Ragan.

Caution is out on lap 70 for Scott Speed who slowed on the racetrack. JPM gets the free pass.

KyBu takes over the lead from Jimmie Johnson around lap 90.

JPM is in on lap 97 for a flat left front tire under the green flag.

Lap 103 Jimmie Johnson re-takes the lead from Kyle Busch.

Caution out on lap 171 for debris.

Caution is back out on lap 181 for a wreck on the restart. Jimmie slowed, thinking there was oil down in 3, then he thought he had a tire going down, then the field accordianed and eventually Dale Jr. and Ambrose get together. Vickers gets into Dale Jr. and Bowyer spins and quite a few cars get collected as the drivers try to avoid the issue. Travis lays down a lot of fuel. Carl gets the free pass. Quite a few cars got damage including the 55 (Vickers), the 11 (Mark Martin for Hamlin), the 56 (Truex), 17 (Stenhouse), 22 (Logano), 88 (Dale Jr), 1 (Jamie McMurray), 9 (Ambrose), 31 (Burton), 93 (Travis Kvapil), 15 (Bowyer)

Since the field was frozen at the caution Jimmie retains the lead because the caution came out and froze the field just before KyBu passed Jimmie. KyBu mentioned the golden horseshoe when discussing it with Dave Rogers.

Kenseth takes the lead on lap 221.

Caution on lap 240 as Regan Smith dumps David Reutimann.

Caution is out on lap 253 as Carl Edwards loses a tire and goes for a spin.

Caution is out on lap 280 as Martin Truex Jr spins out.

Caution on lap 293 as Kurt Busch goes for a spin.

The 78 (Kurt Busch) has gone up in flames on lap 487 bringing out a red flag.

JIMMIE WINS!!!

Overall it was an okay race. I’m not a big Martinsville fan to begin with and this race didn’t wow me. That said I’m also not a Bristol fan and I enjoyed that race – so just because it may not be my favorite track, some races make me forget they’re not on one of my favorite tracks. This wasn’t one of those. There was nothing wrong with the race, but it wasn’t spectacular.

Next Race: Texas

GO 48!!!!

After a bit of a rocky start with a weather delay on Friday – it snowed on Thursday in Martinsville – race weekend has arrived sunny, warm, and beautiful.
