The temperature is apparently a bit warmer than it has been in Kansas the past few days. The drivers seem a bit concerned about what that will mean for track conditions. Kasey Kahne has the pole. He mowed the grass a while, but managed to keep it off the wall.

Caution is out at lap 71. Jeff Burton hit the wall with a little help from Tony Stewart.

AJ Allmendinger is out of the in-care medical center and begging for a ride in the 51 car next week. He apparently stumbled when he got out of the car.

During the race Mr. Hendrick said he had given a little bad information. He said Dale has a closed in-car test on Monday morning which will be attended by Dr. Jerry Petty, then an appointment with Dr. Petty on Tuesday and they should know whether Dale will be able to race at Martinsville by Tuesday afternoon, but he’s going to leave it to Jesse Essexson and the PR guys to put out the press releases and spread the news from now on.

The radio broadcast of the race was exciting. I was on the edge of my seat – and since I was driving the car I’m surprised my passenger didn’t advise me to calm down. The television broadcast was not nearly as exciting. But then again I already knew what had happened. I was so totally bummed when Jimmie hit the wall! I saw the points sailing away. I was gobsmacked when I saw him restart in third at some point. I decided he must have stayed out and once the field cycled through he’d be somewhere in the back. I was thrilled when I realized he really was on the lead lap. While a ninth place finish is not specifically what he (nor I) wanted from this race, it was a minor miracle under the circumstances. Keselowski finished eighth. Jimmie led a while so the bonus point kept him seven points behind Bradley K. Good job Ron Maleck and the 48 team!!!

Matt Kenseth held on to win for the second week in a row.

Next week: Martinsville

GO 48!!!!

Race Day dawns sunny and bright.
