Caution on lap 54 of 250 for an incident involving Harrison Burton (25) and Corey Day (17). MRN reports Burton chased Day around the track, after the incident, in anger. Looks like Corey Day tried to go underneath Burton, wheel-hopped and slid into him sending both of them in a slide up the track.<\/p>\n

The grandstands look awfully sparse in the blimp shot of the property.<\/p>\n

Connor Zilisch (88) wins the stage under caution.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 81 of 250 for a spin by Garrett Smithley (14) in front of leader Brandon Jones (20). Zilisch (88) ran into the back of Brandon Jones who checked up to avoid Smithley.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 95 of 250 as Dean Thompson (26) goes for a spin.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 140 fo 250. Harrison Burton (25) spins bringing out the caution. He has has part a large piece of sheet metal, possible from Thomas Annunziata (70)’s car, attached to his hood. Kyle Sieg (28) was also involved.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 153 of 250 for an incident involving Carson Kvapil (1). Sam Mayer (41) ran Kvapil into the inside wall.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 176 of 250 for a spin by Connor Zilisch (88). Zilisch led the first 99 laps of the race.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 217 of 250 for a spin by Carson Kvapil (1) who got hit by Jesse Love (2) when Love was rooted out of position and up the track. Kvapil was facing oncoming traffic. Then Love ran into Kvapil as Kvapil attempted to drive away. Love’s car was leaking fluid on pit road. He’s out of the car; his day is done. Not sure why he damaged his car by running head-on into Kvapil the second time.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 232 of 250 for a crash involving 48 Christian Eckes (16), Myatt Snider (91) Since television was showing the view from inside the car I’m not sure what actually occurred. MRN reports they tried three-wide off turn two and it didn’t work. Christian Eckes (16) spins in front of the field with assistance from Sam Mayer (41) and hits Daniel Dye (10) and got slammed into by Nicholas Sanchez (48) who had nowhere to go. Josh William (11) also collected along with Kyle Sieg (28).<\/p>\n

Red flag is out at 1925 eastern. Caution is out at 1935 eastern.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 238 of 250.<\/p>\n

Ryan Sieg (39) and Almirola (19) both have tire rubs and are trailing smoke.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 242 of 250 for a spin by Connor Zilisch (88) which collected Jeremy Clements (51), and William Sawalich (18).<\/p>\n

MRN reports this is the 97th lap of caution today.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 248 of 250 with Taylor Gray (54) and Justin Allgaier on the front row. Second place Sammy Smith (8) is starting behind Gray.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 249 of 250 for a spin by Matt DiBenedetto (99).<\/p>\n

MRN reports Austin Hill (21) reports he think he has a transmission issue because it keeps bumping out of third and he keeps missing a shift.<\/p>\n

Restarting in overtime with Sammy Smith (8) and Brandon Jones (20) on the front row followed by Taylor Gray, Sheldon Creed, Justin Allgaier, Sam Mayer, Austin Hill.<\/p>\n

Gray gets the early lead. Smith tries a bump and run.<\/p>\n

There are multiple crashes behind the front of the field as the checkered flag flies.<\/p>\n

Austin Hill (21) finishes first as they crash coming to the checkered flag.<\/p>\n

Hill literally drove over Allgaier sending Allgaier into Smith who had just turned Gray to cross the finish line first.<\/p>\n

Justin Allgaier (7) finishes third.<\/p>\n

Congrats to Brennan Poole (44) on a fourth place finish.<\/p>\n

Congrats to Sheldon Creed (00) on finishing second.<\/p>\n

MRN reports Sammy Smith and Taylor Gray are fighting at the infield care center and there’s a sheriff’s deputy involved. Now they say they were having word and security broke it up before it escalated.<\/p>\n

The final stage of the race was good and got better as they began to race. The overtime restart was exciting. The finish was entertaining, though disappointing. Sammy Smith’s move on Taylor Gray should be reviewed by NASCAR. I believe it highlights the need for differing rules for the series. If the Cup race came down to an overtime restart I believe, overall, the racing would be hard, but relatively clean owing to the talent and experience of the participants. The people behind the wheel in the Xfinity series are a widely varying collection of talent, and lack thereof. Of the top five on the final restart there were two with legitimate driving talent, one with sufficient experience, and three with a lot of aggression, but questionable – at best – skill. The danger increases with the lack of skill combined with youthful decision making abilities. I used to enjoy watching young talent learn to drive in the Xfinity series. Now it seems young monied individuals fund cars in the\u00a0Xfinity series until there’s a Cup team more in need of funding than concerned about hiring a talented driver who can grow and improve their program. As a result kids who have not learned how to race end up trying to learn in the Cup series. Rarely do they become more than a driver likely to cause an issue and run in the middle, to back, of the pack more often than not. I would like to see NASCAR institute age limits on for the Truck, Xfinity, and Cup series. I also think NASCAR ought to require a certain amount of required time driving in the Truck and Xfinity series before a driver is eligible for promotion to the next series. Driver quality would improve if the kids learn together in ARCA, then when they’re 21 moving into the Truck series for at least three years before moving into the Xfinity series for at least three to four years, so that the driver who reaches the Cup series is seasoned, educated, and dedicated, having proven themselves, having developed a following, and\u00a0having learned the lessons necessary to grow NASCAR and entertain fans of stock-car racing. I believe it will also improve the quality of the product NASCAR is marketing across each of the series.<\/p>\n
