On lap 2 of 201 the television broadcast goes with a rear bumper-cam shot kicking off this week’s crappy ‘race’ coverage.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 4 of 201 with a split-screen shot of a car driving slowly. After three attempts to show something relevant to the caution, we finally see Leland Honeyman Jr (42) chase his car up to the wall, and turns himself into the outside wall on JJ Yeley’s (14) hood.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 7 of 201 with Brandon Jones at the head of the field. Sammy Smith (8) takes the early lead from teammate Brandon Jones (9).<\/p>\n

On lap 11 of 201 a look at the hood of a car, the track surface, the wall, a car in the distance, the glare of the sunshine and an inset camera view of a helmeted and gloved driver in a darkened car’s interior driving. What idiotic television. Then the car bumper in the distance draws nearer and they finally figure out they should show something of the race from outside the extremely limited viewpoint of a front windscreen. Of course, we see one car passes another car, but the relevance of that is missing since I have no idea where the cars in question are in relation to the rest of the field and the race overall.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 34 of 201 for Dylan Lupton (15) getting into the wall. We’re watching the 97 team push Shane Van Gisbergen’s car backward down pit road toward the garage area. Once they’re out of site they find a shot of Dylan Lupton tagging the wall.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 39 of 201 with Brandon Jones (9), Riley Herbst (98) and Sammy Smith (8) among fourteen cars staying out. Herbst gets the early lead.<\/p>\n

Cole Custer (00) drives from fifteenth to the lead in three laps, leading lap 42 of 201.<\/p>\n

Jesse Love (2) is spending an extensive time on pit road working on the front of his car. He must have been the car that turned Taylor Gray. Of course with the awful coverage on NBC we don’t have a decent camera shot of the incident. We are seeing a lot of terrible shots of it. Sammy Smith (8) also seems to be getting a lot of tv coverage so possibly he turned Gray. Hard to tell from the useless broadcast images.<\/p>\n

That was a boring event overall. The majority of the racing was done during the final two restarts, but overall when a car got the lead they kept it for a while, so the final restart was less exciting than it could’ve been at another track – or with another rules package.<\/p>\n
