The idiot camera shots are underway on lap 2 of 160 as we’re looking at the hood flaps of one car and the bumper of another car as the two leaders race side-by-side. That was followed by a shot of the wall and track surface and bumpers of other cars, followed by a very high (far away) shot of the field. They’re bored early and often on the first three laps of a 160 lap event. Thankfully MRN radio is broadcasting the race.<\/p>\n

A third line along the wall has formed and is moving forward steadily and has almost reached the front of the field.<\/p>\n

Josh Berry (4) wins stage one.<\/p>\n

MRN reports a fire in Daniel Suarez’s (99) pit box.<\/p>\n

MRN reports Suarez’s car erupted into flames as he was circling the track. He returned to pit road and they pulled him out of the car.<\/p>\n

Television is finally out of the long commercial break and is showing Daniel standing on pit road, then the car on fire, then a really weird shot of a post of some kind and the fire in the distance. The fire is pouring out of the rear of the car as he drives into pit road. Daniel is sitting on the pit box as the officials examine the rear of the car.<\/p>\n

Suarez says every time he pitted he dropped a little fuel and he was boxed into his pitbox by the 21 in front of him and the 11 behind him and the fuel ignited on pit road and they went up into the rear of the car where the fuel line was catching it on fire. Daniel said since he no longer runs a rear-view mirror, on the rear camera, and it is attached to the rear bumper he couldn’t see what was going on, but he could feel the heat on his back. He didn’t realize how bad the fire was.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 41 of 160 with Joey Logano (22) and Chris Buescher (17) on the front row.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 59 of 160 for a multi-car crash as Ross Chastain (1) gets turned into the wall and collects ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11), Corey LaJoie (7), Martin ‘MTJ’ Truex Jr (19), Alex Bowman (48), Noah Gragson (10), John Hunter ‘JHN’ Nemecheck (42), Ty Gibbs (54), Erik Jones (43), Daniel Hemric (31), Kyle Larson (5), Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20), Austin Hill (33), William ‘WilliB’ Byron (24), Ryan Preece (41), and Chase Elliott (9). Chastain got turned into the wall, Corey LaJoie checked up in front of Noah Gragson who turned him into the wall in front of the field collecting the rest of the cars.<\/p>\n

Erik ‘DaBrat\/EJ’ Jones’ (43) car is on fire on pit road, according to MRN’s Steve Post, with flames coming out of the fuel-filler, and the rear of the car. He drives away and the fire appears to be extinguished as he returns to the track.<\/p>\n

Many of the cars involved have gone to the garage including Chase Elliott (9), Denny Hamlin (11), Ryan Preece (41), Noah Gragson (10) and eventually Corey LaJoie (7).<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 66 of 160 with teammates Chris Buescher (17) and Brad Keselowski (6) on the front row.<\/p>\n

Hamlin (11) says everyone was saving gas there so he didn’t think anybody was too aggressive. The first thing he saw was the 7 getting turned in front of him.<\/p>\n

Chase Elliott (9) says, on MRN, “Everybody was playing games, nobody wanted to lead, and someone changed lanes and got out of shape”.<\/p>\n

On lap 79 of 160 the television viewer is watching a shot of the track surface and some part in the darkness of the underside of a car rolling over a bump. What useless video.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 80 of 160 for a flat tire for Erik ‘EJ’ Jones (43) sending him up to the outside wall, and Shane Van Gisbergen (16) goes up in smoke as he loses an engine. SVG’s car is on fire on pit lane. SVG stopped in Kyle Larson’s pit.<\/p>\n

MRN’s Steve Post says the internet went down on pit road for a while.<\/p>\n

NASCAR Digital reports Martin ‘MTJ’ Truex Jr (19) also lost a tire.<\/p>\n

Some pit, some stay out.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 88 of 160 with Joey Logano (22) and Kyle Larson (5) at the front of the field.<\/p>\n

Joey Logano (22) wins stage two.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 100 of 160 with Michael McDowell and Josh Berry lead them to the green flag.<\/p>\n

Seems like all this fuel saving is making a really boring event – lap 125 of 160.<\/p>\n

Green flag pit stop for Martin ‘MTJ’ Truex Jr (19) on lap 128 of 160.<\/p>\n

On lap 134 of 160 MRN’s Alex Hayden reports MTJ is on pit road again for another left front issue. Alex says they’re going to start charging him rent for the pit box soon.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 139 of 160 for John Hunter ‘JHN’ Nemecheck (42) going for a long slide into the infield pavement from the lead after a bump.<\/p>\n

We’ve spent an enormous amount of time looking at team owner Michael Jordan watching the race from the pit box.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 144 of 160 with Austin ‘MyFatherIsAPenskeExec’ Cindric (2) and Brad ‘It’ Keselowski (6) up front.<\/p>\n

MRN reports Brad ‘It’ Keselowski (6) will have to serve a restart violation pass-thru penalty. ‘It’ (6) beat leader Cindric (2) to the start-finish line. He hits pit road – from the lead – on lap 147 of 160.<\/p>\n

On lap 149 of 160 they appear to be out of fuel-save mode and into race mode.<\/p>\n

Michael McDowell (34) gets turned from the lead by Austin Cindric (2) in front of the field bringing out the caution on lap 150 of 160 and collectuing Joey Logano (22), Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23), Justin Haley (51), Alex Bowman (48), Tyler Reddick (45), Kyle Larson (5), William ‘WilliB’ Byron (24), Ricky ‘Wrecky Spinhouse’ Stenhouse Jr (47), Ryan Blaney (12), Chris Buescher (17). McDowell’s car went on its side on Joey Logano’s hood, but came back down on its wheels.<\/p>\n

Blaney (12) and Stenhouse Jr (47) have exceeded the Damaged Vehicle clock and are out of the race on lap 155 of 160.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 157 of 160 with Austin Cindric (2) and Josh Berry (4) on the front row followed by Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (8), William ‘WilliB’ Byron (24), Harrison Burton (21), Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20), Todd Gilliland (38), Austin Dillon (3), Austin Hill (33), Erik Jones (43), Parker Retzlaff (62), and Zane Smith (71).<\/p>\n

Cindric (2) gets the early lead. Josh Berry comes back alongside Cindric.<\/p>\n

Josh Berry (4) turns in front of the field and goes over on his roof, then goes spinning into the inside wall on his lid on lap 158 of 160 as the rest of the field crashes behind him.<\/p>\n

The safety crews are going to get the Josh Berry (4) car on its wheels first, then they can get him out of the car.<\/p>\n

Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (8) is the race leader under caution.<\/p>\n

Red flag is out on lap 159 of 163.<\/p>\n

The 4 car is on all four wheels and Josh Berry is immediately out of the car, on his own power, giving a thumbs up.<\/p>\n

Someone got into CBell, sending him into KyBu (8), sending him into the back of Cindric (2) who turned into Josh Berry sending him around then onto his roof and sliding toward the infield wall. Somebody hit the outside wall hard also. It’s hard to see who was involved because they keep showing the same camera shot of the sliding Josh Berry car spinning.<\/p>\n

Looks like EJ (43) went up onto another car, then came back down on his wheels and went spinning.<\/p>\n

There was a lot of wrecking in the field, but it seems<\/p>\n

Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (8) takes the white flag.<\/p>\n

Harrison Burton (21) crosses the line first. The Wood Brothers get win number 100. Burton is credited with his first Cup Series win.<\/p>\n

TV is spending a lot of time showing a woman celebrating on the pit box – probably Kim Burton – and showing Jeff Burton celebrating in the NBCSports broadcast booth.<\/p>\n

MRN reports NASCAR has the finish under review since Burton went below the double yellow line.<\/p>\n

MRN reports NASCAR says it’s official Burton (21) wins.<\/p>\n

MRN reports there have been 262 starts since the Woods Brothers last won.<\/p>\n

Jeff Burton runs over to hug his son who lifts his father of his feet in a bear hug.<\/p>\n

MRN says Todd Gilliland (38) is Harrison Burton’s (21) best friend.<\/p>\n

MRN talked to Eddie Wood, who Postman says has tears in his eyes. Steve Post went on to say Len Wood and Jeff Burton also have tears i their eyes.<\/p>\n

That was really a boring race overall. There were some spectacular crashes. Since the field spent the majority of the race in fuel saving mode there wasn’t a lot of racing until about ten laps to go. The finish was disappointing. I’m thrilled that the Wood Brothers finally got win 100. I found the race finish unsatisfying.<\/p>\n
