‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11) wins stage one.<\/p>\n

Crash on lap 73 of 160 involving William ‘WilliB’ Byron (24), Harrison Burton (21), AJ Allmendinger (16), Chase Briscoe, Ryan Preece (41) brings out the caution.<\/p>\n

Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23) wins stage two.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 105 of 160.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 105 of 160 for a crash involving Martin Truex Jr (19) – who got into the wall after a little contact with Kyle Larson (5) and Josh Berry (4) getting into the wall behind the incident. NBC doesn’t seem to have decent video of what happened to Josh Berry to cause his spin, so they’re spending a lot of time showing replays of the contact between Larson and MTJ, occasionally throwing in a shot of the Berry incident after it was underway.<\/p>\n

PRN’s Doug Rice is saying the crowd of 70k may not look like a big crowd, but it’s larger than some counties. Then PRN’s Brad Gilley added that some of the seats are under cover so that wouldn’t show the fans. They mentioned the attendance is up as a result of moving from the road course to the oval. A guy with the track – Doug somebody – said they said more road course races, so [we] did, then they said go back to the oval, so [we] did.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 109 of 160 with ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11) and John Hunter ‘JHN’ Nemechek (42) on the front row followed by second place Ricky Stenhouse Jr (47).<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 109 of 160 for a crash involving Joey Logano (22) and Jimmie Johnson (84). Carson Hocevar (77) turns Ryan Blaney (12), who got sideways and hit Austin Dillon (3) and the car below him – Jimmie Johnson (84) – which turns Jimmie into Logano sending both into the outside wall.<\/p>\n

PRN’s Doug Rice said the race started like they thought it would with everybody taking it easy and feeling out their cars. He says the tension is beginning to pick up now. More than two-thirds of the way through the event it’s finally beginning to have tension building? They need to figure out a way to get the Cup drivers to race throughout the event. They are need to figure out a way to get Carson Hocevar out of the Cup series. That boy was bad in the truck series. He was worse in the Xfinity series. He’s a menace in the Cup series.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 114 of 160 with ‘Desperate’ (11) and ‘JHN’ (42) up front.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 124 of 160 for a spin by Martin ‘MTJ’ Truex Jr (19). His car is spinning its tires in the grass.<\/p>\n

Jimmie (84) said his girls designed the car and he was hoping to give it a great finish. He also said he wanted to give Carvana a good finish because they have been such a strong supporter of him, especially since his departure from full-time driving.<\/p>\n

Joey said, “It seems like Hocevar stuffed it in the center, got in there a little too late. Seems like something he’s done a lot recently. It finally caught up to me.” Joey continues saying, “It sent Blaney into Jimmie’s right rear sending Jimmie into [my] left rear”.<\/p>\n

IMSNetwork\/IndyCar Radio’s Mark James is in the PRN booth and he’s getting emotional talking about what a friend and influence Doug Rice has been to him.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 129 of 160 with Brad ‘It’ Keselowski (6) and Daniel Hemric (31) up front with second place Ryan Blaney (12) in third.<\/p>\n

PRN is calling an exciting race. I’m watching four cars ride single-file with Larson patiently waiting for his moment to pass Hemric. It finally comes on lap 151 of 160.<\/p>\n

The picture disappeared just after that pass. It’s back on lap 153 of 160.<\/p>\n

Now the top three cars, ‘It’ (6), Blaney (12) and Larson (5) are driving around about 2-3 car-lengths apart.<\/p>\n

It’s not extremely exciting to watch for me, but the PRN guys seem very excited, though if I were seeing what they’re calling it might be more exciting for me also. They keep calling Blaney (12) making moves that I’m not seeing. Yes his car does move, but he’s rarely close enough for it to actually be a move for the lead.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 157 of 160 for Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (8) hitting the wall after contact with ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11).<\/p>\n

Restarting in overtime on lap 161 of 163 with Brad ‘It’ Keselowski (6), Ryan Blaney (12), Kyle Larson (5), Tyler ‘TyRed’ Reddick (45), Christopher Bell (20), Todd Gilliland (38), Austin Cindric (2), Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23), Ryan Preece (41), Daniel Suarez (99) at the front of the field.<\/p>\n

‘It’ (6) runs out of fuel before the restart and heads to pit road instead of taking the green flag. Larson (5) moves up beside Blaney (12) for the restart. Larson gets the early lead.<\/p>\n

Crash involving John ‘JHN’ Hunter Nemechek (42), ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11), Alex Bowman (38), Daniel Hemric (31), and Chase Briscoe (14) in overtime, on lap 161 of 166 brings out the caution. Hemric got into the rear of JHN who hit the inside wall and shot back up the track in front of Bowman (48), Hamlin (11) and Briscoe (14).<\/p>\n

Red flag is out at 1755 eastern for the clean up from the crash including repair of the SAFER (Steel And Foam Energy Reducer) barriers. PRN is saying the folks at this track worked with Doctor Dean Sicking to develop SAFER barrier and it was installed first at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.<\/p>\n

The television broadcast has switched to USA Network from NBC at 1800 eastern.<\/p>\n

Alex Bowman (48) said his dash was on fire at one point. He said, “The 77 was being super aggressive trying to get low so [I] filled the middle and then they crashed at the bottom and [I] really hit the outside wall”. Bowman said, “Racing for 27th was interesting”. He added, “Then again we shouldn’t have been in that position. We should be running better than that”.<\/p>\n

Caution is out at 1812 eastern.<\/p>\n

Blaney restarted, but Larson didn’t immediately move. He needed a push start. PRN says it was a bad starter.<\/p>\n

Restarting with in overtime on lap 165 of 167 Kyle Larson (5), Ryan Blaney (12), Tyler ‘TyRed’ Reddick (45), Todd Gilliland (38), Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20), Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23), Austin Cindric (2), Ryan Preece (41), Daniel Suarez (99), Chase Elliott (9) up front. Some cars have fuel concerns, like Blaney and Bell, some do not, like Larson and Reddick.<\/p>\n

Inexplicably tv is showing a split screen as they come to the green flag, of a windhsield shot and the field.<\/p>\n

Larson (5) gets the early lead over Blaney.<\/p>\n

Reddick (45) passes Blaney for second.<\/p>\n

A car, Ryan Preece (41), spins into the infield. The race stays green.<\/p>\n

Another car Chris Buescher (17) has spun onto pit road.<\/p>\n

Larson takes the white flag.<\/p>\n

Caution is out for Preece (41) who is stopped in the grass.<\/p>\n

Kyle Larson (5) wins under caution.<\/p>\n

The 5 car team owner Rick Hendrick was the pace car driver for the 30th anniversary of the Brickyard 400 and his car wins the race.<\/p>\n

Congrats to Chase Elliott (9) on a fourth place finish.<\/p>\n

Totally boring event until the overtime restarts. Due to ‘aero blocking’ I don’t think it would’ve been a competitive finish without the restarts. The finish was okay. I was glad the leader took the white flag before the caution came out. The race was effectively finished at the white flag anyway. With the blocking facilitated by the rearview camera, it was highly unlikely Reddick would have had a chance to pass Larson, but quite likely cars would have gotten destroyed when the rest of the field raced to the checkered flag.<\/p>\n

In his television interview Ryan Blaney (12) said he got screwed on the restart. He said the 6 couldn’t make it on fuel and he could. He went on to say Larson got gifted the win. He added he’s ‘happy for them’<\/p>\n

PRN was very quick to say Larson moved up based on the rule book and it’s unfair of Blaney to say NASCAR gifted Larson anything, Keselowski gifted him the position.<\/p>\n

Both Mr Hendrick and Jeff Gordon are taking pictures with Larson and Cliff Daniels in Victory Lane.<\/p>\n

‘Bubba’ Wallace mentioned Blaney and Suarez are getting married during NASCAR’s two week Olympics break.<\/p>\n
