Yes, it is so boring they need to find something to talk about other than Larson leading another lap.

Kyle Larson (5) easily wins stage one.

Restarting on lap 87 of 267 with Ryan Blaney (12) and Austin Hill (33) on the front ow followed by Chris Buescher (17) and Ty ‘TeamOwnerJoeGibbsIsMyGranddaddy’ Gibbs (54) who stayed out.

Caution on lap 100 of 267 for a crash involving Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20) who hit the outside wall, Joey Logano gets into the rear of Alex Bowman (48) sending him spinning, then John Hunter ‘JHN’ Nemecheck (42) clobbered the spinning Bowman (48) sending both sliding through the infield.

Restarting with Todd Gilliland (38) who stayed out and Kyle Larson (5) up front on lap 105 of 267.

Caution on lap 113 of 267 for a slide by Cason Hocevar (77).

Kyle Larson lost the right rear wheel on the racetrack. He drives around the track and returns to his pit. He ran 15 laps on the wheel, and it came off under caution. Larson will be held a couple laps due to the penalty.

Restarting on lap 118 of 267 with ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11) and teammate Martin ‘MTJ’ Truex Jr (19) up front.

Caution on lap 120 of 267 for a slide by Josh Berry (4) into the outside wall.

For some reason we’re looking at a fan in the grandstands talking on her phone and seeing excited about he conversation. Then we see a fan eating and talking with her daughter who begins to wave when she sees herself on the big-screen. Now a child in headphones who was looking at the ground until someone pointed out to him he was on the big-screen. Boring video of bored people.

Restarting on lap 125 of 267 with the same two up front.

Caution on lap 136 of 267 for a spin into the wall by Josh Berry (4) again. He headed to the garage with his right front wheel pointed out at about 45 degrees.

Restarting on lap of 267 with Ross Chastain (1) and Michael McDowell (34), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (47), Erik Jones (43), Brad ‘It’ Keselowski (6), Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23), Harrison Burton (21), Carson Hocevar (77) up front. They chose not to pit.

Caution on lap 143 of 267 for a spin into the outside wall from second by Michael McDowell (34).

PRN reports McDowell can’t make a right turn so he’s struggling to get it heading in the correct direction. The safety crew is talking to Michael. Now a wrecker has backed up to the 34 car which is sitting across the track or pit road – with the camera shot it’s hard to tell which. The 4 car of Josh Berry is on the jack stand on pit road.

The fire came from Corey LaJoie’s (7) car according to PRN. PRN’s Brad Gilley is reporting that fuel is pouring out of the inlet of his car after they add fuel. So they’re able to add fuel, but it is pushed back out, according to Gilley.

Restarting on lap 149 of 267 with Ross Chastain (1) and Ricky Stenhouse Jr (47) on the front row.

Ross ‘WatermelonBoy’ Chastain (1) holds off Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23) to win stage two.

Larson is now back on the lead lap after getting two free passes on the recent cautions.

Restarting with Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23) and Chase Briscoe (14) on the front row.

Harrison Burton (21) took them three-wide which took air off the 23 of Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace. Harvick agreed chuckling. According to the two of them the restarts are the best opportunities to pass during a run.

Cole Custer is in the PRN booth today.

“Best battle I can see on the racetrack, if you could call it that…”, PRN’s Doug Rice on lap 205 of 267.

Television is showing a shot a the entire racetrack and the surround area. They are searching for something to show and showing just about anything including a couple of crew-members running across the front of a car on pit road. They were so quick I didn’t see which team was pitting. Then again, I didn’t care. They’re flipping through the idiot camera shots, front window, bumper cam, side window, obviously bored with what is going on on-track.

Green flag pit stops are underway on lap 210 of 267.

Now, lap 211 of 267, a split-screen of William ‘WillyB’ Byron (24) having a pit stop in one screen and two cars racing in the distance in the other. I couldn’t read the numbers on the cars, so I’m not sure who they are. The smaller numbers and distant camera shots make it tough to determine who’s who on the track.

Tyler Reddick (45) pitted from the lead, by about 5 seconds, and had trouble on his pit stop.

Caution on lap 228 of 267 for a John Hunter ‘JHN’ Nemecheck (42) spinning out into the wall.

FS1’s Kevin Harvick said he hit like that one time at Texas and it hit so hard his foot got hung and it wide open.

Restarting on lap 234 of 267 with Tyler Reddick (45) and Denny Hamlin (11) on the front row.

According to FOXSport’s Mike Joy Prosper, Texas (lap 233) was a cow-town when Chris Buescher (17) grew up there, but now it’s an affluent suburb of Dallas where Dak Prescott lives.

PRN seems to often call what the television broadcast is showing when they show a shot of cars racing side-by-side. Of course, they don’t do that very much after the rest.

Tyler Reddick (45) tagged the outside wall. The race stays green and they keep going.

Brad Keselowski (6) has four tires and both tv and radio are following his progress through the field. He has reached third place on lap 248 of 267.

So far there have been nine cautions for incidents and two for stage breaks.

Caution on lap 254 of 267 for a wall visit by Ricky Stenhouse Jr (47).

Restarting on lap 258 of 267 with ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11), Chase Elliott (9), Brad ‘It’ Keselowski (6), Ross ‘WatermelonBoy’ Chastain (1), Daniel Suarez (99), William ‘WillyB’ Byron (24), Tyler ‘TyRed’ Reddick (45), Chase Briscoe (14), Ryan Preece (41) and Joey Logano (22) up front.

Kyle Larson (5) crashes on lap 258 of 267 bringing out the caution.

They went four-wide and Zane Smith (71) got into Kyle Larson (5) sending Larson around.

The guys in the FOXSports booth have been talking about how aggressive Chase Elliott (9) has been throughout the race and continue to talk about it as the field circulates under caution.

Harvick says it’s all going to come down to the second row, who gives the best push from the second row.

Restarting on lap 264 of 267 with Chase Elliottt (9), ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11), Ross ‘WatermelonBoy’ Chastain (1), Brad ‘It” Keselowski (6), William ‘WillyB’ Byron (24), Daniel Suarez (99), Chase Briscoe (14), Tyler ‘TyRed’ Reddick, Ryan Preece (41), and Austin Dillon (3) up front.

Caution on lap 265 of 267 for Denny Hamlin spinning out from the side-by-side battle for the lead and hitting the wall.

Chase Elliott (9) did not reach the white flag before Hamlin brought out the caution.

The FS1 booth said all of the second place cars that have spun out have been on the outside.

Restarting in overtime with Chase Elliott (9), Ross Chastain (1), Brad Keselowski (6), William Byron (24), Daniel Suarez (99), Tyler Reddick (45), Chase Briscoe (14), Ryan Preece (41), Austin Dillon (3), and Kyle Busch (8) at the head of the field.

Caution on lap 270 for a crash involving Harrison Burton (21) and Kaz Grala (15).

FOXSports’ Mike Joy reports The 9 team is advising Chase Elliott (9) to save, save, save fuel. They’ve told him he has enough fuel for one more green-white-checkered restart.

Restarting in overtime again (274 of 276) with Chase Elliott (9), Ross Chastain (1), Brad Keselowski (6), William Byron (24), Daniel Suarez (99), Chase Briscoe (14), Tyler Reddick (45), Kyle Busch (8), Austin Dillon (3) and Ryan Preece (41) up front.

Caution comes out before the checkered flag as Ross Chastain goes around and into the wall off the bumper of William ‘WillyB’ Byron (24).

Chase Elliott wins (9) ending the 42 race drought.

The race broke the record of caution flags with that final fifteenth flag.

Chase Elliott (9), tv interview, “It’s been a dream of [mire] to pay respect to the late Alan Kulwicki and do a Polish victory lap driving the Hooters car which was his (Kulwicki’s) sponsor. Kulwicki beat ‘dad'(Bill Elliott) that day.

The FOXSports folks are saying Keselowski finished third and Byron second. The leaderboard shows Keselowski second and Byron third. Keselowski says NASCAR is going to have to prove it to him.

That was easily the best Texas race I’ve seen in more than a decade. The sad part is that it didn’t get exciting until lap 258 – eight laps from the scheduled end of the event. So it was boring for 257 of 267 laps, then they decided to really race. Luckily for the race fan they raced hard until the end leaving a very favorable impression of a fair, though busy event. The handling issues made the event more interesting overall, since the race fan/viewer never knew when the caution flag would fly, where the issue would occur in the field, and whom would be up front next. That’s a huge improvement over the last decade of racing at Texas Motor Speedway. The NextGen car seems to have improved the event initially, but not to the level I saw today. I was left – for a change – with a positive feeling about today’s race. The end of the event, thankfully, did not give the television broadcast the opportunity to begin showing stupid shots instead of the on-track action. So the race fan at home actually got to see exciting on-track action shot well for a change. It’s a step in the right direction.

Motorsport News & More:

Ryan Sieg Oh-So-Close, Yet Oh-So-Far from 1st Xfinity Win at Texas.

Justin Allgaier Goes Cold in Final Laps of Texas Xfinity Race.

Xfinity Breakdown: Sam Mayer Busts Out of Slump at Texas.

Frijns paces Sunday Misano E-Prix practice.

Nevada 1000 Invitational set for 2025 debut.

Racing Insights: Hendrick Motorsports expected to bring the heat to Texas.

Hughes beats Vergne to second Misano E-Prix pole.

Kleck opens 2024 FR Americas season with NOLA win.

Musella, Hauanio win Ligier JS F4 openers at NOLA.

Ryan Blaney Calls for ‘Drastic’
