Did I saw warms the cockles, I think I meant burns my a**!!! Last night I arrived home to no water. Today, I have trouble arriving home and after parking at a nearby grocery store and walking a mile home, I am feeling less than loving toward my complex. Now, I know it’s not the fault of the complex that county workers hit a water line causing a water outage (we got that message from management this morning, so I’m not certain it was responsible for last night’s water outage) and in the process of trying to repair it they hit a natural gas line – BUT – so many things have happened since we’ve lived here and the water outages are so common (as are the power outages) that we say “the water is off AGAIN“. And then there’s the health thing. It seems everybody we know in the building has had major medical issues since we’ve lived here – including us. I’m leaning toward the notion that this is NOT the right place for us and once LiverPooh returns to this side of the Atlantic we’re going to do some serious looking. It’s just getting too weird here for me.

So I’m watching Speed’s rebroadcast of the Martinsville race. I listened to most of the race at work. It isn’t one of my favorite tracks so I didn’t have a big problem taking my lunch break during the race. Denny won, which is what I expected/predicted. Jimmie finished 9th which is three places lower than what I figured/predicted. Overall, it’s Martinsville. It amazes me when short-track races are over the NASCAR press are all saying: How did you enjoy that race? Wasn’t it a great race? If you didn’t like that, you don’t like racing/there’s no hope for you/you should try a different sport. I am admittedly a NASCAR fan come lately. I watched as a child, but not religiously. Now I’m an admitted fanatic about NASCAR – BUT – short-tracks do nothing for me. I find them boring usually. I love the plate tracks and Michigan and the super speedways – so Bristol just doesn’t offer me anything, nor does Martinsville. Now interestingly enough I don’t have a lot of problems with some of the other shorter tracks like Richmond and Dover. They’re not as short as Bristol and Martinsville and maybe that contributes to my enjoying the racing a lot more. Maybe. Denny’s ACL surgery has been deemed successful.

Anyhoo, the traipse home (and the lack of ready to eat options at the grocery store) has left me in a little bit of a bad mood, but I’m home now and whinging a plenty. Now, for the good news, the weather was gorgeous today here, sunny and mid 70s. I’m lovin’ that. The only problem is spring fever – I’d much rather be doing something fun on a beautiful day and sitting in a freezing office being bored silly (and I mean that literally). But, until I live in a country with reasonable health care, I continue to go and be bored silly.

Oh yeah, Jimmie is leading the points. This early in the season I don’t get excited about the points lead, but I hope its the start to an unprecedented season of on-track success for the 48 team. A fifth championship would please me, but that’s so far off at this point, its a pipe dream. I’m still not loving the 48 car’s paint scheme, but it isn’t as offensive on-track. I first saw a picture of it – out of context so to speak – and it is not the beautiful blue racer I love, but it’s not the poop brown M&Ms car either or the puke green car Allmendinger has been driving recently.
