It’s in the upper 50s lower 60s. BooBoo is on the pole. Kyle Busch leads the first lap. First caution, lap 4, tire comes apart on Robby Gordon and sends him spinning. Kasey Kahne takes over the lead from Kyle Busch on lap 14. Lap 20 Clint Bowyer is on pit road under green. Flat right front tire for Clint. Robby was 34th in points ahead of Scott Speed. SpankBoy moves into the top 35 FINALLY. Juan Pablo Montoya passed Busch for second. Kasey is 2.2 ahead of JP going into the commercial break. Back from commercial on lap 28 Kasey is 3.1 seconds ahead of JP. Kyle is still in 3rd. Big Daddy is followed by BooBoo and Jimmie. Jimmie is looking to get ahead of Jr it appears – as is Denny Hamlin. Caution is out on lap 35. David Ragan hit the wall a couple laps ago and it finally went down. David has gone to the garage to take a look at damage. Max Papis gets the free pass. Kasey kept putting cars a lap down which is why Clint Bowyer couldn’t get the free pass. Jimmie is pitting ahead of Kasey so he pits short for an early exit. Jimmie got blocked in by David Gilliland and lost a lot of spots on pit road as a result of having to back up before coming out. I’m guessing Chadley will be having a chat with his crew chief. On the restart Joey Logano and Carl Edwards are into the wall. Bradley K hit Carl from behind which ran him up the hill causing him to hit Joey Logano. Clint got the free pass. They were pushing Carls car in the pits. Kyle wont the race off pit road and took off on the restart. BooBoo grabbed third from Kasey and was passed almost immediately by JP. Carl is in the pits and wants to see the replay. Carl says the replay doesn’t look as malicious as he thought. “Brad doesn’t give me any room at all, but I was trying to take a little bit more.” Carl is very, very unhappy. Mike Joy said Carl was being very gracious about Keselowski. DW says if Carl looks at that a little more he may change his mind. JPM just took second from Kyle Busch – lap 52. Big daddy just took fourth from BooBoo. Kasey is leading again as we go to commercial. According to DW the body language is bad on Kurt Busch. He said he was watching him walk away from his garage yesterday and he doesn’t believe that the communication is working between he and Addington. He said over the past two weeks he really hasn’t liked what he’s seen. Tony Stewart is the biggest mover in the race up 35 spots – he started in the back after an engine change. Denny just took fifth from Kyle. Kurt is in fourth and Big Daddy is in third. Lap 65 of 325. Kurt Busch just took third from Jeff Gordon. Kasey is four seconds out in front. After leading a lap during caution Nemechek has taken it off the track. Smoke is following Kyle Busch around with a battle for seventh place. Jimmie is in 10th. Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin are battling for third. Denny has gotten past him and is going after JPM and now Hamlin has passed him. Kurt Busch has passed JPM now. Jimmie just passed Kyle for ninth. Biffle is coming past Kyle now. Expecting green flag pit stops in 10-15 laps. Some new Kobalt tools commercials – heavy duty and tough – so they’re tearing things up and holding up the car. They’re okay – Jimmie’s talking – but I prefer the handyman around town commercials. Cauution is out for debris in turn two. Probably because Clint got into the wall trying to avoid going a lap down – he did anyway. They told Kasey to stop short in his box because the 48 will probably stop short in his. Kurt Busch won the race off pit road. Kasey lost six spots on that pit stop. Jimmie comes off in 14th. It hits 60 but its not as warm as the teams thought it would be today. Restart on lap 83. Booboo just passed Hamlin for second place. Smoke and Montoya are battling for third. Chad picking 16th is most likely the cause of the issues with pitting for Jimmie and Kasey Kahne. Jeff Gordon is also pitting in that area. Jeff Gordon has made it to third, with Kasey fourth, Hamlin fifth, BooBoo sixth and Jimmie eighth. Judy Childress is in the hospital. Clint’s father is spotting for him because Mike Dillon has gone back to NC to be with Judy. Clint’s father spots for him in practice normally. Just before the commercial break JPM had caught up to Kurt Busch. 112 of 325 laps completed. BooBoo is in the pits – he thinks he has a loose wheel. Green flag pit stops expected in 15-20 laps. Kurt picked it up when JPM got behind him. Big Daddy and Denny have been going after eachother for fourth place. Mark Martin just spun on 115 with a left rear tire gone. Mark Martin was in 17th position when he spun. BooBoo is going to do a wave around since he was just in for tires. They’re checking the wheel of BooBoo’s car to see if they can tell if it was loose. Everybody’s in on pit road. Kurt Busch is going to lead them off. Jimmie seems to have gained some spots. David Gilliland is the leader right now. They’re guestimating that either Chad Knaus asked them to wait until the next lap to pit and/or they wanted five points for leading. Larry Mc thinks its a bit of both. Lap 121 everybody is driving by Jimmie Johnson on this restart. He started in fifth and is now in seventh. The tire specialist wrote “Goodyear check dismount 88” on the tire that came off BooBoo’s car. Big Daddy is motoring thru the field right now. Just took over fifth from Kenseth. Denny is chasing JPM for second. Kurt has checked out it appears. Jimmie has caught the 24 for sixth. Kurt is the leader by one second on lap 130 of 325. A member of Biff’s pit crew found a horseshoe last week and they have it taped up in the pit box. Biff’s been gaining spots every pit stop. Kasey has been stuck in 4th -6th since the pit stop incident. Biff and Vickers top Mike Joy’s next-to-knock-down-the-wall list. Big Daddy has faded to 12th. Big Daddy said they’re in big trouble and he’s going to take care of their stuff and pray itcomes back. The track temperature has changed one degree since the start of the race. It’s remained overcast. Denny had gotten to within 3/10 of a second behind Kurt Busch and Kurt drove away and left him. Biff and Allmendinger battling for tenth. He’s been hanging in the bottom of the top ten. Denny has caught back up to Kurt. Denny just went in front of Kurt and JPM is closing in on them. Lap 149 Denny Hamlin is leading the race. Kurt says he’s loose off. Kenseth and Kahne are battling for fourth. 176 to go as we go to break. Jeff Gordon has made his second pit stop under green, as did Dale Jr. Both are complaining about tire troubles. Right front issues for Gordon. Big Daddy had to do a drive thru for being too fast entering. Jimmie is in sixth. Joey Logano just cut a right front down on lap 158. Caution is out. Regan Smith gets the free pass. Jr is getting to the pits about five laps too soon. Jr is two laps down now and will be one down after the wave around. Denny wins the race off pit road. Jimmie loses two spots and Kasey loses one spot. DW says they’re adjusting on the 48 now he believes. After watching them drive around him on the last restart I hope so. At least seven different drivers have had tire issues. They believe the camber is part of the problem and how low the tire pressures are in the early laps are causing the tire issues. A vacuuming truck is out on the track right now. Denny has said on the USA Today diary that he thinks Toyota is behind on engines (though the head of Toyota racing disagrees). 7 leaders, 13 lead changes, 6 cautions, as we head into the commercial break before restart. Restarting on lap 164. Denny got a good jump off on the restart. Jimmie is battling Reuti-tooty. Kenseth is battling JPM for third. Kasey is behind Kenseth and JPM. Reuti-tooty has an engine problem. DW says it looks like it dropped a valve. Kurt, JPM, Kenseth and Kasey are all dogging Denny pretty hard. JPM’s crew is advising him to save the splitter. JPM just did a power move ahead of Kurt Busch. Gorgeous! Kasey just went pas Kurt also. JPM just took the lead from Denny. Kurt is dogging Kasey pretty hard. Kasey is battling Denny for second, but looks like he’s got it. Kasey is chasing JPM, who’s trying to pull away. Kasey is back in the lead at lap 175. Rick Hendrick has gone into the pits. Tire specialist Keith Weiss says its not the rear axle problem that showed up previously. The tires are fully inflated, so they can’t figure out what’s causing the tire problems Big Daddy and BooBoo have had. Jimmie feels like they’re making progress now. He’s in the sixth spot. Chad just went over to have a talk with Kenny Francis, most likely about pitting. Kenny Francis said this morning that he and Chad were going to have to work together on pit stops all day long (after a crew member walked into the hauler before the race and asked him if he’d seen who was pitting in front of them). Bradley K has moved up to seventh place, though his right side is a mess. Jimmie is in fifth. Woof is in 13th. Spank is in 15th. Clint’s in 17th. Big Daddy is in 29th. BooBoo is in 31st. Carl is in 41st. Smoke is on pit road with 136 laps to go. Smoke said he thinks there’s a problem with the a side tire. Carl is going back onto the racetrack finally (134 laps to go). Kasey has led 73 of 191 laps. Tony’s tire has a big slice in the tire, which looked like Big Daddy’s tire. Seems to be a pattern with the Hendrick cars wearing out the left inside. Carl is back in on pit road. Jimmie may have a vibration. Carl said earlier (during the pre-race show) that if Jack Roush wanted to split he and Bob Osborne up they’d have to pry them apart. Carl says he doesn’t think their problems are Bob’s fault (after all I’ve won 16 races with Bob Osborne). He said Jack split them up once before and that didn’t go well. He started getting a little bristly about the subject and was holding back from saying Jack wouldn’t/better not split them up. Jimmie is in on pit road. He said the vibration had gotten much worse. 123 laps to go. Once again we’re within 10-15 laps of green flag pit stops. Mark Martin and BooBoo have hit pit road now. Jeff Gordon is off the pace like he has a problem. Bradley K is pitting off sixth place. His may be a scheduled stop. Jeff said he needs a new right front he felt like it was gone. When it comes off you can see it is having a problem. If wecycle through green glad stops the Hendrick cars are in good shape. Sam Hornish is in fourth ahead of JPM. That’s worrisome. Jamie Mc is on pit road, as is Newman, Happy and Elliott Sadler. Regan Smith is in, as is Kurt Busch. Sam is in. Kurt said his car has felt a little whacked out. JPM is on pit road. Kurt said whatever they did was way wrong. Biff is on pit road. Kasey just passed Clint again. The rear tire changer on the 98 sliced open his hand this morning and has seven stitches. Kasey is in. Denny is leading. Woof and Spank completing their pit stops. Kyle is in for a pit stop as is Denny H. Burton is leading right now with 112 to go (hasn’t been in). Bill Elliott is running second – he hasn’t been in yet either. Burton is in. He only has brakes on the front of the car. They were worried they didn’t have enough brakes to stop the car, and Bill Elliott is coming in now. Kasey will assume the lead again and Jimmie and Smoke are running second and third. Burton got a too fast entering penalty. 101 to go. Caution is out. Debris on the track. Smoke is now in seventh. Bradley K is in 4th. Everybody is going to try to stop short in their boxes (the 9, the 48 and the 38). Kasey wins the race off pit road. Jimmie lost a spot to Kurt Busch. Gilliland (38) didn’t come in for a stop that time. Jimmie is battling the 11 for third with 93 to go after the restart. Hornish may have a power problem at lap 76. The crew has a backup battery in the pits for him. Denny got a text this morning from Michael Jordan wishing him well in the race today. With 66 laps to go Jimmie is battling Kurt Busch for second. Dale Jr is 30th, two laps down and has a loose race car. Green flag pit stops are due within the next ten laps. Burton and Bill Elliott got pit penalties, Burton for speeding and Elliott for missing lugnut. Denny Hamlin says they’re right on with fuel, with none to spare. Jimmie has the same issue as the 24. We’re under caution. Denny’s cut down a tire which threw off some debris. Its a debris caution. Kurt wins the race off pit road. Jimmie lost three spots, he was over the line, they had to back him up and then they had (according to DW a sloppy pit stop). 35 to go right now, under caution. On the restart (lap 33) the 19 and the 13 hit the wall. the 13 has a right front tire going down. Somebody hit Elliott Sadler and he got turned into Max Papis. Mark Martin gets the free pass. Jimmie comes onto pit road. Chad asked if he felt anything rubbing, Jimmie said no, and Chad brought him down anyway. Jimmie ran into Newman, he didn’t know he was on the outside of him. They think something was rubbing after the contact so they brought him down to fix it. Bristol is in two weeks. About 30 laps to go. smoke is on pit road with 19 to go to replace right side tires. 10 to go with Kurt Busch leading and JPM and Kasey bringing up second and third. Catuion! Brad Keselowski flipped. Carl Edwards flipped him! Brad is out of the car and limping a bit. Carl’s getting parked and is going to the hauler. Carl drovedown pit road the wrong direction to park his car. Brad said he lifted for him, but couldn’t lift fast enough for him. He apologizes for that but he couldn’t help it. He didn’t do it intentionally. Three laps to go. Clint Bowyer won the race off pit road, so he’s the leaderwith Menard in second. Kurt Busch and Jamie Mc are behind them. Kurt wins on the second green white checker. Kasey was in fourth. SpankBoy finished 10. Jimmie finished 12th. BooBoo finished 15th. Clint finished 23rd. Kurt is doing a victory lap backwards. Steve Byrnes said Kurt was told not to come to the garage so much because they couldn’t get work done. Kurt said it was important to him to see how Steve was delegating responsibilities and how he was being absorbed.

325 laps to complete today on a beautiful relatively Sunday afternoon in Atlanta.
