The 2023 All-Star Race will spread across the weekend with multiple events leading to Sunday’s primetime main event.

On Friday, the Pit Crew Challenge set the starting lineups for the two heat races and the All-Star Open. The quicker the stop, the higher up the driver’s starting position will be for the heat races or the Open. The 21 teams already locked into Sunday’s main event compete in Saturday’s heat races while the rest of the field will try to make the All-Star Race through Sunday’s Open.<\/a><\/p>\n To add extra incentive for teams, the race team with the fastest pit stop Friday will collect a $100,000 bonus.<\/p>\n The two heat races on Saturday set the starting lineup of the 21 cars already locked into the All-Star Race. They each consist of 60 laps with Heat No. 1 setting the inside row and Heat No. 2 setting the outside row.<\/p>\n The 16 teams not locked into the main event will compete on Sunday in the 100-lap All-Star Open for two transfer spots that will go to the two highest finishers in the race. A third transfer spot will go to the driver with the most Fan Votes whom isn’t already locked in.<\/p>\n COMPETITORS<\/strong> Heat Race 1<\/em> MRN says they’re going to poll the drivers to determine if the tires should be changed now.<\/p>\n The drivers say its still too wet for the dry weather tires, so they get new wet weather tires in a non-competitive pit stop.<\/p>\n Daniel Suarez (99) wins heat race 1.<\/p>\n He will be on the pole for the All-Star Race tomorrow night.<\/p>\n These days the only thing the NASCAR broadcasts can do right is show beautiful sky video. They shoot some of the most beautiful skyscapes. If only they could shoot the race as well as they showcase the skies the broadcasts would be worth watching. Unfortunately they shoot the races like people not remotely interested in, nor educated about NASCAR racing.<\/p>\n Hooray for Daniel Suarez! When Steve Post of MRN asked him about the million dollars given to the winner of the All-Star Race Daniel said, “I don’t care about that I want the trophy!” Finally! Someone has said what I’m always thinking. That aspect of the event is not relevant in this day and age when the drivers are mostly millionaires. That aspect needs to be discarded unless it involves one of the underfunded teams winning that amount. Since they typically aren’t allowed to compete in the event that’s highly unlikely.<\/p>\n They were kind of intense.
