I never knew what would happen next. IndyCar&#8217;s first race of the season was invigorating and left me excited for the next race. It&#8217;s been years since NASCAR has done the same. I miss that level of anticipation.<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Stages: 80-85-102<\/li>\n<li>36 cars in the field<\/li>\n<li>Pole: Joey Logano (22)<\/li>\n<li>Outside Pole: William Byron (24)<\/li>\n<li>57 degrees<\/li>\n<li>18-35 mph winds<\/li>\n<li>Danica Patrick joins Mike Joy and Clint Bowyer in the FoxSports booth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>William &#8216;WilliB&#8217; Byron (24) wins stage 1. He led 67 of 80 laps.<br \/>\n<!-- 1727 --><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;WilliB&#8217; wins stage two. He has now led 152 of 165 laps.<\/p>\n<p>Caution on lap 182 of 267 for a spin by Joey Logano (22). PRN says this is the first caution for on-track action.<\/p>\n<p>PRN&#8217;s Doug Rice referred to it as a &#8216;quiet&#8217; race. The other guy, Mark Garrow?, was talking about &#8216;the lonely pace car driver&#8217; and mentioned Kip Childress is his neighbor.<\/p>\n<p>Caution on lap 263 of 267 for Aric &#8216;Afterburner&#8217; Almirola (10) spinning out and visiting the wall.<\/p>\n<p>Restarting in overtime.<\/p>\n<p>Martin &#8216;MTJ&#8217; Truex Jr (19) stays out and gains the lead. WilliB (24) &amp; Larson (5) take tires and line up second and third.<\/p>\n<p><!-- 1843 -->White flag.<\/p>\n<p>AJ Allmendinger (16) spins out on the final lap.<\/p>\n<p><!-- 1843 -->William &#8216;WilliB&#8217; Byron (24) leads his 175th laps of the day for the win.<\/p>\n<p>The only thing worth watching was the first lap of overtime.<\/p>\n<p>Boring, boring, boring. More boring than the Xfinity series race. William Byron and Kyle Larson were able to simply runaway from the field and stay away. Bowman (48) also spent quite a bit of time rolling with his teammates. MTJ (19) was able to follow them successfully and &#8216;Desperate&#8217; Denny Hamlin (11) was able to follow MTJ. Those seemed to be the only legitimately competitive cars. 5 of 36 is a non-competitive field, especially considering all five were from 2 teams.<\/p>\n<p>Dinger&#8217;s (16) spin caused a multi-car accident which we saw in a replay. NASCAR digital is reporting Michael McDowell (38), Erik Jones (43), Brad &#8216;It&#8217; Keselowski (6), and Ryan Preece (41) were collected.<\/p>\n<p>Hendrick Motorsports finished 1-2-3 with William Byron (24), Kyle Larson (5) and Alex Bowman (48).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Brian France, I know he&#8217;s a bit of a pariah, but we&#8217;re lucky Brian France signed that ten year deal. It&#8217;s what got us through the pandemic.
