{"id":195,"date":"2010-02-14T21:57:32","date_gmt":"2010-02-15T02:57:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/?p=195"},"modified":"2010-02-28T18:03:42","modified_gmt":"2010-02-28T23:03:42","slug":"2010-daytona-500-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/2010\/02\/2010-daytona-500-sunday\/","title":{"rendered":"2010 Daytona 500 Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s a beautiful day here in Atlanta and in Daytona. \u00c2\u00a0The snow\/ice is melting nicely here and not as cold in Daytona. \u00c2\u00a0The setup for the race was exciting. \u00c2\u00a0Carl said he spoke to Kate and she said she doesn&#8217;t feel like she&#8217;s going to have the baby today. \u00c2\u00a0He&#8217;s got Mike Wallace on standby, just in case.<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/92ecfb0b-fc78-4e51-abf3-30a1ff0343c6-big.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"NASCAR Daytona 500 Auto Racing\" src=\"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/92ecfb0b-fc78-4e51-abf3-30a1ff0343c6-big-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Tim McGraw opened the show. \u00c2\u00a0He looked like Hank Williams Jr. \u00c2\u00a0I find that worrisome. \u00c2\u00a0And his performance was lackluster in my opinion.<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.briari.net\/blogv2\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><!--more--><\/p>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/49f378a5-6929-4c25-96d3-9dfa36cb2703-big.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"NASCAR Daytona 500 Auto Racing\" src=\"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/49f378a5-6929-4c25-96d3-9dfa36cb2703-big-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The field looked good and everybody seemed excited. \u00c2\u00a0The race was rather slow compared to the Nationwide and Truck races. \u00c2\u00a0Keselowski brought out the first caution and took out two with him. \u00c2\u00a0Makes me wonder if Denny is tee-hee-heeing and saying, &#8220;See. I told you he&#8217;s not any good.&#8221; \u00c2\u00a0The race continued with some lead changes and a lot of riding around. \u00c2\u00a0Then John Andretti blew a tire and hit the wall. \u00c2\u00a0Jimmie then went into the pits with a flat tire. \u00c2\u00a0There were 78 laps to go. \u00c2\u00a0Jimmie<a href=\"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/capt.7d4f397e48ce4559a30b699211edef76.nascar_daytona_500_auto_racing_dbr130.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"NASCAR Daytona 500 Auto Racing\" src=\"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/capt.7d4f397e48ce4559a30b699211edef76.nascar_daytona_500_auto_racing_dbr130-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>\u00c2\u00a0couldn&#8217;t figure out what happened to the tire. \u00c2\u00a0Then NASCAR officials went to inspect a pothole on the track. \u00c2\u00a0There was a 1 hour and 40 minute red flag in an attempt to patch the hole. \u00c2\u00a0The cars started rolling again and made 40 laps before the hole was back and Clint Bowyer&#8217;s splitter was busted by it. \u00c2\u00a0NASCAR called a caution and they patched again. \u00c2\u00a0Clint wasn&#8217;t worried about the splitter and it seems it didn&#8217;t hurt him too badly. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The end of the race was amazingly exciting. \u00c2\u00a0Jimmie stopped early after breaking something on the rear of the car. \u00c2\u00a0Jr came from 10th to 2nd in one lap on the second (or third) Green White Checker retry. \u00c2\u00a0 Jamie Mc won the race and of course was a total tear-bag in victory lane.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/9af272fa-e36a-4df2-86d7-62906bf58a0f-big.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"NASCAR Daytona 500 Auto Racing\" src=\"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/9af272fa-e36a-4df2-86d7-62906bf58a0f-big-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/17a2218b-f434-4359-acfa-6183c7564f57-big.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"NASCAR Daytona 500 Auto Racing\" src=\"https:\/\/briari.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/17a2218b-f434-4359-acfa-6183c7564f57-big-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>\u00c2\u00a0The\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\".\/?page_id=197\" target=\"_blank\">2010 Daytona 500<\/a>, potholes and all, is in the books.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Weepy Jamie McMurray. \u00c2\u00a0Between he and Biff, I was rooting for him. \u00c2\u00a0When Jr made his play, I was rooting against him, but I said during the week, he was a Jamie Mc on a mission and I had my eye on him. \u00c2\u00a0I would&#8217;ve preferred a victory by Kasey, but this one works. \u00c2\u00a0And no, though Jimmie is my driver, it never occurred to me that he would win this race &#8211;
