Congratulations to Todd ‘The Onion’ Bodine (62) who will make his 800th NASCAR series start today. This is the last race of the regular season. Thirty-six trucks will take the green flag under sunny skies in Pocono. Qualifying was rained out yesterday so the field will line up based on the ‘qualifying metric’. Zane Smith (38) and Chandler Smith (18) start at the front of the field. The stages for today’s race are 15-15-30.<\/p>\n

The qualifying metric is apparently some combination of finishing order and driver’s points. NASCAR complicated the traditional teams starting based on owner’s points. Then again that was an odd method of determining running order also. There may be a better way, though this way may be good. Maybe I missed the clear explanation of it.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 1 of 60 for a slide by Jack Wood (24).<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 6 of 30 for a spin by Dean Thompson (40).<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 11 of 60 for a spin by Todd Bodine (62). Bodine was then hit by a sliding Tyler Hill (5), and then Jack Wood (24). Bodine’s crew looks over the truck in his pit stall, then Onion heads to the garage.<\/p>\n

Stage one ends under caution with Chandler Smith (18) at the front of the field.<\/p>\n

Stage two ends with Christian Eckes (98) at the front of the field as leader Chandler Smith (18) pits prior to stage end.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 42 of 60 for a spin by Spencer Boyd (12).<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 46 of 60 with Ryan Preece (17) and Chandler Smith (18) at the head of the field.<\/p>\n

Chandler Smith (18) gets the early lead.<\/p>\n

When I look up the television broadcast seems to be focused the battles for third through sixth as the last fifteen laps of the race proceed.<\/p>\n

Chandler Smith takes the white flag.<\/p>\n

Chandler Smith (18) easily wins.<\/p>\n

Boring event and not overly competitive. Only memorable for Todd Bodine’s 800th race really.<\/p>\n
