Austin Dillon lost it and ran into Justin Haley. KyBu went for a spin attempting to avoid the trouble. Daniel Hemric (16) was collected in the incident.

Restarting on lap 47 of 267 with Bowman and Blaney still up front since they wrecked in turn two of the restart.

Bowman gets the early lead. The shot goes from a blimp shot of tiny cars to the bumper of some car. The only way I knew who had the lead was that Bowman and Blaney have different colored cars. If they had the same color car you wouldn’t be able to tell.

‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11) takes the lead from Bowman on lap 50 of 267.

Caution on lap 63 of 267 for a spin by Tyler Reddick (8).

Uncontrolled tire penalty for Martin ‘MTJ’ Truex Jr (19).

Restarting on lap 68 of 267 with Kurt ‘KuBu’ Busch (45) and Corey LaJoie (7) up front.

KuBu gets the early lead on old tires.

William ‘WilliB’ Byron (24) takes over the lead on lap 71 of 267.

Alex Bowman (48) wins stage one.

Restarting on lap 87 of 267 Michael McDowell (34) stays out and Brad ‘It’ Keselowski (6) took two tires they will lead the field to the green flag on old tires.

‘Desperate’ (11) takes the lead from ‘It’ (6) on lap 91 of 267.

Caution on lap 92 of 267 for a spin into the wall by Daniel Suarez (99) who got hit by Chase Briscoe (14) who was trying to avoid Michael McDowell (34), who slid up in front of Briscoe while trying to collect his car after getting out of shape. McDowell was tapped by Erik ‘DaBrat’ Jones (43) sending McDowell up the field in front of Briscoe (14) who took evasive action and clipped Suarez (99).

Restarting on lap 97 of 267 with Hamlin (11) and Bowman (48) on the front row.

The one good thing about the NextGen car is that the racing may be different than the Xfinity series as the cars may not respond the same on the same track. I like that idea. Unfortunately today, the NextGen car is giving a boring race compared to what I saw in yesterday’s Xfinity race. An ugly car in an ugly race that’s badly broadcasted – makes for must miss tv.

Caution on lap 103 of 267 for a spin by It (6). Ryan Blaney (12) was collected in the incident and has front end damage. His crew directed him to the garage due to the extensive damage. PRN reports the radiator is probably gone ending his day.

‘It’ (6) tried to spin into his pit; didn’t; and had to spend time turning around and driving into his pit in the typical manner.

Wendy Venturini of PRN sounds like she’s doing an impression of someone with a deeper voice than hers. It’s very strange sounding. I hope this new vocal thing is a work in progress – in its very early days. I appreciate her attempts to sound less screechy, but she’s not there yet.

Restarting on lap of 267 with Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (18) and Austin Dillon (3), who stay out, on the front row. four cars stayed out.

KyBu has the early lead.

Ross Chastain (1) takes the lead from KyBu on lap 112 of 267.

Blaney is quite angry. Harrison Burton gets a piece of the incident. CBell’s car is bouncing as he’s driving it to pit road. the rear tire seems off the wheel and bouncing. It begins to come apart and the bouncing stopped. Burton has a little rear-end damage.

The 20 team is trying to manually lift the car off the ground to get the jack underneath to raise it and begin repairs.

The teams are going through tires pretty quickly and having to figure tire wear into their calculations.

PRN reports two cars have had to have the brakes bled on pit road, Daniel Hemric (16) and Erik Jones (43).

Restarting on lap 147 of 267 with Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kyle Larson (5) and Chase Elliott (9) on the front row.

Larson gets the early lead. Daniel Hemric (16) tags the wall. The race stays green.

On lap 157 of 267 PRN reports Greg Biffle (44) has taken his car to the garage and it out of the event.

Ross Chastain (1) wins stage two for Team Trackhouse.

Cole Custer (41) has come to a stop on the apron heading to the green flag with smoke coming out extending the caution.

Restarting on lap 174 of 267 with Chastain (1) and Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (18) up front.

KyBu and Chastain are racing door-to-door for the lead lap after lap.

Chastain (1) finally gets the lead on lap 178 of 267.

FS1 reports WilliB (24) got into the wall on lap 205 of 267.

Teammate Kyle Larson (5) did the same on lap 207 of 267.

On lap 211 of 267 Austin Dillon (3) pits kicking off green flag pit stops.

‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11) spins on lap 219 of 267. The race stays green.

Caution on lap 220 of 267 for Hamlin sitting stopped on the apron. He said he downshifted accidentally. The car no longer has H-pattern shifting. He got a push to the pits. After service he tries to leave and says he has no gears.

Larson gets a too fast exiting penalty. Since they are under caution he will restart at the end of the line instead of serving a pass-thru penalty.

Hamlin has gotten out of the car on lap 224 of 267. The team pushes the car to the garage. He says they broke the transaxle and have no gears left.

Restarting on lap 226 of 267 with KyBu (18) and Chastain (1) up front.

KyBu gets the early lead on lap 226 of 267.

It’s rather nightmarish that the folks in the booth – today Clint Bowyer and Danica Patrick – gabbing about whatever takes their fancy, which is never the actual racing – while the video is showing weird camera shots so the view can’t really SEE the race; so the television broadcast is doing everything but broadcasting the race. It gets worst when they do the split-screen with commercials because they seem to find the shots that provide the least amount of information about the race to put in the small box; I guess to avoid distracting from the commercials. FoxSports used to provide excellent race coverage. These days they seem to be following NBCSports in providing a selection of stupid camera tricks during NASCAR events so the viewer sees little of the actual race.

Thankfully there are less than 25 laps left in this event. The race itself has been mediocre (as shown on television). The broadcast has devolved into a variety of nauseating gimmicky camera shots. Clint Bowyer continues to babble ceaselessly in the booth. Occasionally Mike Joy will get a word in edgewise and actually say something relevant. Danica says things – rarely relevant – usually about her, her questions, her memories, her mistakes while talking.

Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Martin ‘MTJ’ Truex Jr (19) and Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (18) are battling or the lead on lap 255 of 267.

For unknown reasons now they’re showing the pit box with KyBu’s wife watching the race. Totally crap video of this race. Teammates are battling for the lead and the television broadcast shows a guy’s wife sitting in the pit box? If they aren’t showing that they’re showing MTJ’s hood and the track with KyBu in the distance.

Caution on lap 264 of 267 for Erik Jones (43) spinning due to a flat right front tire, the Bubba Wallace (23) dodged Jones but slid into the inside wall hard.

Now we’re subjected to Samantha Busch gesturing from the pit box. I don’t know who’s entertained by The Real Housewives of NASCAR during the race. I know I tuned in to watch a race, not a wife.

Kyle Larson (5), Alex Bowman (48) and WilliB (24) win the race off pit road.

Stenhouse starts at the rear for a speeding penalty.

Restarting in overtime (lap 272 of 275) with Kyle Larson (5) and Alex Bowman (48) on the front row followed by William ‘WilliB’ Byron (24), Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (18), Ross Chastain (1), Martin ‘MTJ’ Truex Jr (19), Tyler Reddick (8), Aric Almirola (10), Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20), Chase Elliott (9), Kevin ‘Happy/KHarv’ Harvick (4), Joey Logano (22).

The white flag waves.

Alex Bowman (48) out-duels Kyle Larson to win!

The last restart was good. The two cars were allowed to race door-to-door for the lead. It would’ve been better if other cars had been able to catch them to also race for the lead. This track still has an issue with the leader running away from the field. It was better today than in previous years, but there’s still work to be done.

Motorsport News:

MotoGP: Enea Bastianini wins season opener in Qatar.

Why Tommy Joe Martins is Surprised After 3 Races.

NASCAR’s New Cars Continue to Wreck.
