Showers and clouds in the morning delaying Cup final practice gives way to blue skies and sun for the ARCA and Xfinity series races. The stages are 30-30-60.<\/p>\n

Daniel Hemric (11) and Austin Hill (21) lead the 38 car field to the green flag.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 14 of 120 for a crash by Drew Dollar (18) and Jeremy Clements (51). Sam Mayer (1) also got collected. Drew Dollars lost control and truned up into the wall directly in front of Jeremy Clements (51). The crash looked a lot like Drew Dollar’s last lap ARCA series wreck.<\/p>\n

Some pit; most stay out.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 19 of 120 with Daniel Hemric (11) and Landon Cassill (10) up front.<\/p>\n

We’ve been stuck with a few gimmick camera shots, but mostly it’s been pretty good racing action coverage. The cars on the banking are majestic – an awesome sight to behold.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Clements is disgusted in his radio interview from the care center. He said the problem that caused the wreck that ended his day was “inexperienced kids buying them fast cars and good teams that don’t know what they’re doing”. He has a point. There are more kids who have connections and\/or funding who can get cars far beyond their capacity to drive in all of the series. They generally make the events not worth watching. FOX Sports has a camera – seemingly on the pavement – that is such an awful shot because it looks like trash bags with an industrial site in the distance and occasionally cars zipping past. They keep going to that shot and it’s thoroughly useless; not remotely interesting; and a really bad idea overall.<\/p>\n

On lap 27 of 120 they’re single-file coming to stage end on lap 30 of 120. It’s not what I would call racing.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 35 of 120 with Joe Graf Jr (07) and Brandon Brown (68) on the front row.<\/p>\n

It’s interesting to watch the drivers make moves – when they do so. You can’t see that from inside the car, or the side window or the bumper-cam. Those shots disrupt my ability to follow a driver’s strategy and are really unattractive.<\/p>\n

On lap 37 of 120 they are single-file.<\/p>\n

At 1806 eastern time MRN reports the lights are beginning to come on at the track.<\/p>\n

On lap 47 of 120 the field has split into two lines.<\/p>\n

I don’t like the conservative style of driving I see far root often in racing products these days. It seems most drivers are just trying to get a better job so they race as conservatively as possible, and then try to make a move late in an event. Since too many of the drivers don’t have the talent and skill for the series they’re in, that usually leads to innocent victims getting plowed – like Jeremy Clements experienced earlier. It also makes for long stretches of boredom for fans with moments of non-boredom.<\/p>\n

They’re mostly back single-file on lap 55 of 120. They tried to get something going on the inside lane, but Ty Gibb (54) kept jumping in front of the run and people kept bailing out behind him causing the lower lane to lose energy.<\/p>\n

Daniel Hemric (11) wins stage two as Noah Gragson (9) who was leading tried a late block on Hemric and got out of shape – saved the car but lost many positions.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 66 of 120 with Daniel Hemric and AJ Allmendinger (16) up front.<\/p>\n

Green flag pit stops underway on lap 74 of 120 as Hemric and Allmendinger pit together.<\/p>\n

Sam Mayer (1) goes for a spin on lap 75 of 120 coming onto pit road. The race stays green.<\/p>\n

Most of the rest of the field comes into the pits as Sam heads out.<\/p>\n

MRN reports caution on lap 83 of 120, though nascar.com does not indicate a caution and television is in a commercial break. The FS1 broadcast also shows the race under caution. On lap 84 of 120 nascar.com’s leaderboard now show the race under caution for Sam Mayer (8) losing his replacement bumper-cover. He lost the bumper-cover during his last spin.<\/p>\n

MRN’s Steve ‘Postman\/Postie’ Post reports Daniel Hemric believes he may have flat-spotted one of the tires and is feeling a vibration. The team also covered some damage on the front left corner of the car.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 90 of 120 with Austin Hill (21) and Noah Gragson (9) leading the field back to the green flag.<\/p>\n

MRN reports that the restart was under review. NASCAR was looking to see if Noah Gragson (9) left the start zone before Austin Hill (21). NASCAR determined the start was fine.<\/p>\n

Big wreck just before lap 91 of 120 brings out the caution.<\/p>\n

CJ McLaughlin (38) gets loose and turns in front of the field and cars crashed into the melee. A lot of cars took to pit road to avoid the incident. Joey Gase (53), Shane Lee (35), Daniel Hemric (11), Brett Moffitt (02), Tommy Joe Martins (44), Kyle Weatherman (92), Jeffrey Earnhardt (24), Josh Williams (78) were collected in the incident.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 97 of 120 with Austin Hill and Noah Gragson on the front row.<\/p>\n

Oh no, they did that stupid drone shot that shows empty pit road zipping by and if you look in the distance you may see tiny cars flash by. They did it again, Awful shot, nauseating. Worst than the shot of the pavement with lights in the background.<\/p>\n

Commercial break, split screen, a camera shot of the hoot of a car and the side panel of another car. They’re getting as bad as NBC with showing you anything but the race during the race. In case of something notable occurring the bumper and side panels of the car won’t provide visually stimulating images.<\/p>\n

On lap 107 of 120 most of the field is now single-file.<\/p>\n

The FS1 booth has Adam Alexander, Chad Knaus and Denny Hamlin. I’ve not listened. Chad is ok. Adam is rarely a good idea. I have no interest in Hamlin’s whining.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately all this single-file driving has made the tv folks desperate so we’re getting lots of gimmick shots including wastching some driver drive on a split shot with a shot of the actual racing.<\/p>\n

A second line is attmepting to form on the inside, but each attempt gets few takers on lap 114 of 120.<\/p>\n

Jeff Striegle of MRN says you scratch your head an wonder why no one is busting out of line and going with Justin Allgaier (7) if you’re in 6th, 7th, or 8th.<\/p>\n

He just hit on one of the biggest problems with super speedway racing these day. Overly cautious drivers not interested in racing hard and putting on a great show.<\/p>\n

On lap 117 of 120 the inside lane catches the outside lane and takes the lead momentarily.<\/p>\n

1932 a car goes up the fence and flips over. Myatt Snider’s (31) car. The 5 was also involved and the 48 of Jade Buford. Myatt Snider is out of the car and walking around. The 44 of Tommy Joe Martins was also involved. That wreck was astonishing. The crowd seems to be milling around iin the stands. Not sure if parts of the car didn’t go into the stands. Josh Berry (8) was also involved in the wreck. The engine is still laying on the track a distance away from the the 31 car which they’re trying to put on the wrecker, but since the front is gone they’re having trouble figuring out how to do so. The 10 of Landon Cassill was also involved in the wreck.<\/p>\n

Austin Hill was in front of AJ Allmendinger when the caution came out.<\/p>\n

Congrats to Noah Gragson (9) on a second place finish.<\/p>\n

Steve Post reports Justin Allgaier (7) has also been declared finishing inside the top five. Currently nascar.com is showing him as 6th position.<\/p>\n

The car kind of exploded when it hit the catch-fence.<\/p>\n

Overall the race was okay. It wasn’t a great race, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as most Xfinity series races. There was entirely too much single-file time for the number of laps. There also seemed to be little legit racing even when they were two or three wide. Overall the series needs to be a destination for more drivers so they have some skin in the game and race for all they’re worth. The series is generally used as a stepping stone, so all the kids just want to finish clean so they will get to the Cup series with a reputation for not damaging too many cars. The last crash was astounding and the best part is while it looked devastating, the composite car kind of exploding, the driver compartment was intact and the driver was able to quickly exit the car on his own power. It was an okay race with a stunning finish. With more experienced drivers who are willing to give their all every lap the race would’ve been better and the series would become must-watch television that wou
\nld make one want to see the event live.<\/p>\n
