Daniel Hemric (18) will lead the 40 car field to the green flag under sunny skies. Ty Dillon is in the 02 car today for Brett Moffitt whom is described by MRN as having a medical issue. They report Ty got the call a bit late and had to helicopter from his home in North Carolina to the track. Dillon (02) will start from the back. There is a competition caution scheduled for stage 20. The stages for the race are 45-45-57.<\/p>\n

Lots of dust flies up front he track on the first lap. Hemric gets the early lead.<\/p>\n

Sam Mayer (8) tagged the wall in turn two on lap 2 of 147. MRN reports this is Mayer’s first time at Darlington.<\/p>\n

On lap 6 of 147 NBCSN has already become bored and started with the gimmick shots. We’re subjected to a split screen of the battle for the lead – reasonably – along with a battle for 10th position for no discernible reason.<\/p>\n

On lap 9 of 147 Justin Allgaier (7) has closed in on lead Daniel Hemric (18) and he passes for the lead on lap 10 of 147.<\/p>\n

Hemric (18) is dropping back through the field as Justin Haley (11) also passes him. MRN reports he has a tire going down. nascar.com reports Hemric has debris on the grill.<\/p>\n

MRN’s Kim Coon reports the 18 team believes it had a loose plug wire issue since Hemric said his temps and gauges were all good.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 12 of 147 for a spin by Carson Ware (74).<\/p>\n

Hemric returned to pit road to complete the plug wire repair.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 15 of 147 with Justin Allgaier (7) and AJ Allmendinger (16) up front.<\/p>\n

On lap 17 of 147 the gimmick shots continue already with a shot out a rear window somewhere in the field showing a white car.<\/p>\n

Competition caution.<\/p>\n

MRN reports that due to the limited number of tires available to the teams everyone is staying out to save tires. Therefore as a result of the cost savings forced on the teams by NASCAR the teams are unable to successfully use differing strategies.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 25 of 147 with Justin Allgaier (7) and Noah Gragson (9) on the front row.<\/p>\n

Allgaier gets the early lead over teammate Gragson.<\/p>\n

On lap 27 of 147 back to the gimmick shots – this time out the windscreen of a car. NBCSN is totally not interested in the actual on-track action of this race.<\/p>\n

Cup driver ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (54) is battling Noah Gragson for second. Hamlin is doing his stint to gain owner’s points for Joe Gibbs Racing.<\/p>\n

Noah Gragson (7) takes the lead on lap 31 of 147.<\/p>\n

‘Desperate’ follows Gragson past Allgaier.<\/p>\n

‘Desperate’ (54) takes the lead on lap 34 of 147.<\/p>\n

Daniel Hemric (18) has taken second position from Noah Gragson (9). Hemric got new tires, which his team told him not to wear out according to MRN. Guess he didn’t get the memo, or he doesn’t know what causes tire wear.<\/p>\n

Hemrick (18) wins stage one as Hamlin (54) spins himself out trying to pass on the inside of the lapped car of Corey Ware (74).<\/p>\n

MRN reports Justin Allgaier (7) finished tenth off the pace.<\/p>\n

MRN reports that the safety crews are trying to put out the fire under the right front of the Sam Mayer (8) car. Steve Post reports he keeps hitting the wall which caused the fire.<\/p>\n

Justin Haley (11) and teammate AJ Allmendinger (16) win the race off pit road followed by Noah Gragson (9), Daniel Hemric (18) and Brandon Jones (19). Entering ‘Desperate’ (54) hits entering David Starr (61) on pit road. Starr was pitted in the stall ahead of Desperate.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 53 of 147 with Haley (11) and ‘Dinger (16) up front.<\/p>\n

This race is so boring so far, I’m hoping it just passes quickly.<\/p>\n

Haley gets the early lead on a shove from behind by Hemric.<\/p>\n

Allmendinger passes teammate Haley on lap 54 of 147.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 58 of 147 for a spin by Brandon Jones (19). Daniel Hemric (18) got into the rear left corner of teammate Brandon Jones. Jones was drifting down the track. Hemric was there. Jones tagged the inside wall.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 64 of 147 with Allmendinger and Haley on the front row.<\/p>\n

Gragson does a much better job of pushing Allmendnger to the lead than someone *Hemric or Snider) managed with Haley.<\/p>\n

NBCSN is showing the battle for tenth on lap 70 of 147. They then split screen the battle for the lead in order to continue watching the battle for tenth. Ludicrous.<\/p>\n

MRN is excitedly calling the race for third through seventh. Yes they are side-by-side, but it doesn’t look half as exciting as it sounds. Then again I’ve seen so many unwatchable portions of this race I’m reticent to look at the television.<\/p>\n

Noah Gragson (7) wins stage two.<\/p>\n

We’re watching video of the 19 hauler driving along a public road. That was followed by video of two other haulers. We were above those trucks so I couldn’t tell the team.<\/p>\n

NBCSN has Ricky Carmichael in a broadcast booth with Jeff Burton. Unfortunately they also have Kyle Petty and Brad Daugherty with microphones in their hands in the peacock pitbox. They also have Rick Allen and Steve Letarte in a booth. Waaaaayyyyy too many people who talk wayyyyy too much about nothing much, and do so badly, with hot mics. I think I’d enjoy Burton and Carmichael calling the race – I think. Burton can get extremely repetitive and screechy.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 97 of 147 with Noah Gragson (9) and ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11) on the front row.<\/p>\n

‘Dinger gives Gragson a push to the lead then challenges for the lead.<\/p>\n

‘Dinger passes him by the end of lap 97 of 147 for the lead and ‘Desperate’ follows him past Gragson.<\/p>\n

NBCSN shows Ryan Blaney sitting in a pit box on lap 101 of 147.<\/p>\n

‘Desperate’ (54) passes ‘Dinger (16) on lap 102 of 147.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 108 of 147 for an incident involving Riley Herbst (98) and Tommy Joe Martins (44). Fire pours out as they raise the hood on pit road and Herbst gets out of the car. Herbst slams into the rear of Tommy Joe Martins (44) who was trying to get to pit road. Herbst lifted the Martins (44) car off the track with the impact.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 115 of 147 with Timmy Hill and ‘Desperate’ on the front row. Hill stayed out. Desperate and Noah won the race off pit road.<\/p>\n

Timmy Hill (66) didn’t get going at all and Hemric ran into the back of him as the rest of the field dodged around them. Hemric goes from fourth to thirteenth by the end of the first lap due to getting stuck behind Hill. nascar.com reports that Timmy Hill radioed in that something broke.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 137 of 147 for a spin by Brandon Jones (19).<\/p>\n

I guess that video of the 19 hauler was not current.<\/p>\n

‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (54) and Noah Gragson (9), Harrison Burton (20), AJ Allmendinger (16), and Justin Allgaier (7) win the race off pit road.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 142 of 147 with Daniel Hemric (18) and Landon Cassill (4) who stayed out on the front row followed by Noah Gragson. Hamlin is dropping back to serve a penalty for equipment over the wall too soon. Matt Mills elects to drop to the back of the field.<\/p>\n

Noah Gragson gets the early lead followed by Hemric who is passed by Dinger.<\/p>\n

Daniel Hemric (18) spins out on lap 143 of 147. The green flag stays out.<\/p>\n

Dinger is slow on<\/p>\n

The caution finally comes out on lap 145 of 147 as Dinger drops back through the field due to a lot of debris on the track that was visible on the NBCSN camera.<\/p>\n

MRN’s Alex Hayden says it looks like something has come through the hood of Daniel Hemric’s race car. It looks like a tailpipe flew from under the Hemric car. Moody says a part under the hood has blown up causing the damage seen on the hood.<\/p>\n

AJ Allmendinger (16) attempted to come to pit road for either a loose tire or a tire going down and missed the entrance to pit road.<\/p>\n

Dinger pits under the caution flag for a loose lugnut.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap 150 of 147 with Noah Gragson and Austin Cindric (22) on the front row followed by Harrison Burton, Justin Haley, Justin Allgaier, Tyler Reddick (23), Jeb Burton (10), Jeremy Clements (51), and Ryan Sieg (39) – choose rule, order not exact.<\/p>\n

Noah gets the early lead followed by Harrison Burton.<\/p>\n

Noah takes the white flag with Harrison chasing him. 1752<\/p>\n

Noah Gragson holds off Burton and wins!<\/p>\n

Congrats to Jeb Burton (10) on snagging a fifth place finish after not being in the mix all day.<\/p>\n

Noah stood on the roof of his car and saluted the fans. Noah and his team are climbing the fence and waving to the fans. Noah is struggling a little bit, but he made it up as high as his crew members.<\/p>\n

Noah has a flight out to Las Vegas scheduled for 8:30 tonight for his friend’s birthday. He said he doesn’t think he’s going to make it.<\/p>\n

I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t get a chance to hear much of G.O.A.T. Rickey Carmichael, but the calls on NBCSN are so consistently bad I didn’t feel I could risk it.<\/p>\n

That was a boring race with a satisfying winner.<\/p>\n
