After much, too much, hype the first roval race is here as the kids from the Xfinity Series take on the challenge. It’s fantastic to see a challenging race in the play-offs. The Cup teams whined so much about ‘Dega that it was moved to a different position in the play-offs. I like having a wild card in the play-offs because the Cup teams are so careful they take all the fun out of watching the race. We really need a better format than the play-offs. The Elimination format has resulted in much more stilted, mild, boring racing for the majority of the field for most of the play-off races. It would be a lot more exciting if truly any one of 12 drivers had a chance for 9 races. I say 12 because typically there are about 4 drivers in the field each year that get a lucky win and\/or other lucky breaks throughout the season and end up in the play-offs – Ryan Newman, Aric Almirola, and AJ Allmendinger immediately come to mind from recent years. So maybe kick out one
\ndriver
\nevery three races – and really start over. Start out with everybody with equal points. The tops teams have money on their side and will give them many advantages without the extra points. So everybody starts out with the same number of points and gain points based on their finishes position in the play-offs.<\/p>\n
Austin Cindric (22) apparently had a fast car so he will lead the field to green. It’s good to have a connected Daddy and all the advantages in the world. Daniel Hemric (21) is on outside pole. The stages are 15-15-25 for the race.<\/p>\n
Pat Patterson says NASCAR has adjusted the tire barrier in one of the turns because everybody was hitting it so much in practice. Sounds like this one is not quite ready for prime time, so to speak.<\/p>\n
PRN has a number of different folks contributing to the call of this race.<\/p>\n

Justin Marks (42) is making his last Xfinity series start according to PRN. That’s a bummer. I’ve always enjoyed watching Justin compete.<\/p>\n
Caution on lap 1 of 55 for a car without power on the track. Alex Labbe lost power.<\/p>\n
NASCAR.com isn’t tracking the race. It’s still showing warm 0\/55 laps. Since the tracker on television is always too small for me to see the laps I tend to count on it, so that’s a bummer.<\/p>\n
Cindric and Tyler Reddick (9) lead the field to green for the restart on lap 3 of 55.<\/p>\n
The nascar.com tracker just kicked in on the restart. Hooray!<\/p>\n
The tv broadcast is obsesses with putting a stupid graphic of the track on the screen – large – with the actual race in a little box, though this time they’re showing the stupid out of the windshield shot. NBCSN makes awful race coverage.<\/p>\n
Ty Majeski (60) spins on lap 6 of 55, gets it straightended out and continues on.<\/p>\n
On lap 13 of 55 Austin Cindric (22) spins out and through the grass while leading Daniel Hemric (21).<\/p>\n
Too bad Justin Mark’s hands are kinda tied with regard to how hard he can race play-off drivers, because I’m betting that we might have seen a good battle for that position otherwise.<\/p>\n

Restarting on lap of 55 with Daniel Hemric and Christopher Bell (20) at the front of the field.<\/p>\n
Chase Briscoe (98) takes the lead from Hemric in th first corner.<\/p>\n
The 15 of Katherine Legge goes around, gets it straightened out and continues.<\/p>\n
The 28 of Ryan Sieg ran into the 7 of Justin Allgaier who spun out on lap 28 of 55. Both cars get turned around and headed in the right direction. Ryan Sieg has a lot of front-end damage. He t-boned Allgaier.<\/p>\n
Christopher Bell wins the stage. Positions 3-9 were nine seconds behind the leader. Snooze.<\/p>\n
Chase Briscoe and Daniel Hemric lead the field to green. There was a wreck that clogged things up shortly after the field got the green flag.<\/p>\n
Ryan Truex (11) was involved in the wreck as well as Ty Majeski (60), Brendan Gaughan(3), and Michael Annett (5).<\/p>\n
Restarting on lap 36 of 55 with Chase Briscoe (98) and Daniel Hemric (21) up front.<\/p>\n
Caution for debris on lap 41 of 55 off the Ryan Sieg car. According to PRN the bearer bond let go on the 39 car and the hood flipped up and parts started flying off.<\/p>\n
Restarting on lap 44 of 55 with Chase Briscoe and Daniel Hemric in positions one and two.<\/p>\n
The start time of the Cup race has been moved up for tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Daniel Hemric loses control on lap 45 of 55 and misses a turn going through a grass strip and then comes to a stop before getting going again. He’s now in 14th place.<\/p>\n
Chase Briscoe (98) (SHR) wins the first Charlotte Roval race and his first Xfinity Series race.<\/p>\n
Congrats to Justin Marks (42) on his second place finish in his last Xfin race. Tomorrow is his last Cup race. He’s been an enjoyable part of this sport. I will miss seeing him and wish him well.<\/p>\n
That was a boring race. Not much competition overall. Everybody seemed to be trying to be careful and NASCAR seemed more interested in getting the race completed rather than throwing cautions so it was a lot of cars driving around the course as opposed to head-to-head racing.<\/p>\n
