Austin Cindric shows his colors and dumps Kaz Grala to take the lead on the final lap of the truck race. He had the nerve to say he didn’t feel bad doing what he did since Kaz already has a win this season. Austin’s birthday was yesterday. Maybe he’ll grow up and learn some decency. He seems to be well on his way to becoming an expletive like his truck owner ‘It’.<\/p>\n
Not sure why we could only get really really long shots of the stage when they were announcing the Hall of Famers. If it wasn’t distant shots it was backstage shots. Not a nice solid shot of the stage as the Hall of Fame’ers gathered on the stage. Guess it wasn’t that important based on what they did. NBC coverage stinks.<\/p>\n
A nice piece on MRN during pre-race coverage – Ned Jarrett interviewed Dale Earnhardt Jr. It was an enjoyable – though too short – interview.<\/p>\n

It’s one thing for the drivers to dress up for Throwback Weekend. That’s fun and appropriate. It would’ve been a lot of fun if the pre-race show had focused on the Throwback elements for each team. Let the fans at home see what the teams did for the weekend. The cast of ghouls on the desk and in the pits dressed up like it’s Halloween is counterproductive. Maybe if they were quality broadcasters it would be fun, but since they’re clowns at the best of times, dressing up like clowns simply hammers in the point. How long is the NBC contract?<\/p>\n
Richard Petty is driving one of his classic cars pacing the field. They ended up black flagging him. Fun.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend Bunny and I have been complaining because instead of including a drivers name in the ticker at the top of the screen they’ve been showing teeny pictures. So basically, if you don’t know – or can’t see the car number – the only info you get from their ticker is that a white guy is in a position because the pictures are so small the faces have no definition and since almost all of the drivers are white guys its thoroughly useless.<\/p>\n
I continually wonder if they have such large monitors those little things look like something to them. They leave me searching for other methods of finding out info about the race, during the race. It would be nice to be able to get the raw feed of the race, without the audio or the fonts, to actually see the action without the aggravating elements. Actually I change my mind, it would be nice to actually see the action without the aggravating elements. That can be accomplished simply by hiring a quality team and simplifying the ticker – less is more – bigger is better…just the running order and the race video please.<\/p>\n
The Xfinity race was boring yesterday. The top 4 were Cup guys, then William Byron, then more Cup guys if I remember correctly. Really boring.<\/p>\n
Caution is out on lap 16 of 367. Looks like Trevor Bayne is blowing up – so much smoke. We see him hit the wall but AJ Allmendinger spun towards him when he hit that same spot. Did TBayne lay down fluids? Moody says Trevor had a right front down causing him to hit the wall again – he’d scraped the wall before that getting the damage that kills the tire. AJ then spun trying to avoid him.<\/p>\n
Clint Bowyer is being pushed to the garage. He turned the car off because it was getting hot during the caution laps. He tried to turn it back on and it wouldn’t start and he smelled something burning.<\/p>\n

I heard a commercial earlier today that they were going to crown the regular season champion at Richmond for the first time. Huh? Seriously? Oh, I get it, having read it on the track’s site – ‘to crown the inaugural Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular season champion’ – so maybe nothing different really except the sponsor.<\/p>\n
Oooh, there they are! Ned Jarrett and Squires and unfortunately Dale Jarrett. I hope he can contain it this year and keep his yapping to a minimum and let the professionals handle the heavy lifting.<\/p>\n
Squires is so good at selling stuff without sounding like that’s what he’s going. Dale seriously needs to learn less-is-more. He babbles and his voice is too grating to go on and on like that. It would serve him better to listen and learn.<\/p>\n
