He also became the first Mexican-American NASCAR Champion.

Congratulations to Tony Stewart on the final race of an incredible NASCAR career. We’ll miss you Smoke!

There has been a lot of hype around this race and Jimmie’s opportunity to win his seventh championship and tie the records held by Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt.

NASCAR pulled the 48 off the grid line up. They walked the grid and said they felt as though the 48 looked different.

Caution during a commercial break on lap 26 of 267 for Ryan Blaney spending time against the wall.

Caution on lap 79 of 267 for a spin by Jeffrey Earnhardt.

KyBu has to come to pit road under green for a tire down on lap 138 of 267. The green flag stop has put him a lap down. The team was unable to find a problem with the tires.

Caution on lap 170 of 267 for debris.

Ryan ‘Son’ Blaney revisits the wall to bring out another caution on lap 206 of 267.

Caution with 15 laps to go for a tire down on the 32 of Dylan Lupton.

Does Steve Letarte have a mute button, or a pause button, or an off button. He’s talking like he’s had 5-hour Energy, No-Doz, 70 cups of coffee, 40 cups of green tea, some cocaine, a bit of crack and a little crystal meth for fun. Dude, take a breath every once in a while! I’d love to actually hear what the cars sound like on the track occasionally as opposed to the non-stop babble. Unfortunately he seems to have shared the wealth with Jeff Burton who won’t stop talking either.

Restarting with 10 laps to go. The final four are toward

Crash just after the restart.

The 78 is ablaze. Martin Truex Jr got out under his own steam.

Carl Edwards hit the inside wall and went back across teh field and someone ran underneath the back of him.

NASCAR has red flagged the race.

Kasey Kahne ran underneath the 19 of Carl Edwards.

Carl went up to the 22 pit box and had a conversation with Logano’s crew.

Joey was trying to go underneath Carl. Carl kept going down to block him and eventually turned into the inside wall. When he bounced back across the field Kasey Kahne ran underneath him and the 7 was spinning behind and beside Kasey. Marty says Carl went up to the box to tell Todd Gordon that it was totally his fault and he apologized.

‘It’ was trying to pull the same thing on Jimmie. Jimmie also went down to block the move. Jimmie got through the chaos by bailing on holding the bottom line. ‘It’ spun up the track when Carl’s car bounced off the wall into ‘Squinty-Douchey’ and his teammate bounced into Keselowski.

Involved in the incident: Keselowski, Truex Jr, Regan Smith, Ryan Newman, Ty Dillon, Kasey Kahne, Chase Elliott were involved. The 78 ran into the 2 of ‘It’.

Carl says he didn’t apologize, he went up to Todd Gordon and said “that’s racing’. Carl also said he hopes the caution was worth it, that NASCAR is going to have to look at whether it was worth it.

The repetition of every single thing that comes out of Letarte’s mouth (which is a lot), combined with Jeff Burton repeating every interview we hear is maddening! I’d been listening to radio audio since the NBC portion of the season began, but I found over the past couple nights that they seemed to be calling a different race than what I’m watching. I listened to both the Truck Series Championship Race and the Xfinity Series Championship Race while watching the video and quite often the radio announcers were losing their minds and on the track the vehicles seemed to be racing around in circles in an ordinary manner. That happened many times too often for me to listen to them tonight when the race might actually get exciting at the end.

That was kind of the bummer thing about the truck and Xfinity races – for most of the race they were just driving around; with around 50 laps to go they really started racing. So in the case of the Xfinity series, 150 boring laps followed by 50 real laps of racing with a crazy restart. Cole Whitt decided to stay out on old tires on the final restart and spun the tires holding up the line behind him which contained two of the final four. Erik Jones threw a hissy fit about the restart. He seriously needs to grow up. He whines worst than Kyle Larson.

Logano comes to pit road and gets tires and gets some of the right front damage worked on. Everybody behind Squinty-Douchey also came into pit road so he probably didn’t lose any track position.

Todd Gordon says Carl said it was good hard racing, totally my deal, go get ’em when Marty interviewed him after the pit stop.

Restarting with six to go.

Caution comes out with four to go for Ricky Stenhouse spinning intop the inside wall.

Kyle Busch is coming onto pit road with three to go.

We’re going into overtime.

JIMMIE JOHNSON WINS HIS SEVENTH CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!

From the back of the field due to the pre-race penalty to the checkered flag and his seventh championship joining Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt as the only drivers to have reached seven championships.

They’re holding Jimmie in turn four while they get victory lane set up so he’s doing an interview with Marty outside the car in turn four.

Ricky Hendrick ran the seven. He has a helmet with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt on the back of it.

Aric Almirola ran down to turn four to say congratulations. RC has come over to say congratulations.

Kyle Petty came into the end of Logano’s interview and gave him a hug. He picked Squinty-Douchey to win before the race.

Jimmie is also the last Sprint Cup Champion since this is Sprint’s final year as title sponsor.

Brian France said we didn’t see this coming but you probably did. WOW! Seriously? It has felt like NASCAR has done everything possible to keep Jimmie from his seventh, but its kind of stunning to hear Brian say that.

Joey has come onstage to congratulate Jimmie and Mr Hendrick.

Jimmie said all of his Hendrick teammates have come over as well as Casey Mears, Kyle Busch and .

Smoke just walked over to congratulate Jimmie and Mr. H.

Jimmie promised to give Smoke a helmet. Jimmie said he wants to give Smoke that one, but Smoke doesn’t want to take it. He told Jimmie he can come back and get it when he wants. Smoke said it shows how good of a friend Jimmie really is because its not often you get a helmet from a guy who just won his seventh championship.

Dale Jr is congratulating Jimmie. He says his Dad would think Jimmie is such a badass. Jr said he told Jimmie he wished his Dad could be there to shake his hand.

That was win # 80. He’s number seven on the all time wins list.

NASCAR News:

<a
