Blue skies and breezy in Kansas. Dale Jr is at the track. Alex Bowman has a stomach virus, but will be in the car. He said Jeff Gordon didn’t bring his stuff, so no relief driver for him. Kenseth will lead the field to the green flag. I was bummed to hear that Martinsville Speedway will add lights. I’ve watched various day races become night races and the racing has not improved with any of them. When night races are run during the day you typically see a better race – like last week’s race at Charlotte. Martinsville racing hasn’t been great the past couple of years and night racing at Martinsville is unlikely to improve the situation.<\/p>\n

Caution on lap 35 of 267 for Aric ‘Afterburner’ Almirola who lost tires and ended up going around after he was hit by David ‘Thrill from Unadilla’ Ragan and knocked into the wall. Afterburner got out of the gas when his teammate Brian Scott checked up in front of him and Thrilla got into the back of Afterburner. Aric ended up in the grass tearing up the front end of his car. Thrilla got some damage from the incident also.<\/p>\n
Denny Hamlin is having a splitter issue, according to MRN. The splitter is coming apart and got into a tire causing the tire to go down. Denny is repeatedly visiting pit road for the issue.<\/p>\n
Caution on lap 44 of 267 for Jamie McMurray hitting the wall. It appeared he had contact with Alex Bowman (although I couldn’t see the number of the car for certain) which cut down his right front tire sending him into the wall.<\/p>\n
Green flag pit stops are complete around lap 100.<\/p>\n
Caution on lap 115 of 267 for Josh Wise into the outside wall. Martin Truex was on pit road when the caution came out. The 78 team was worried because the car didn’t take the second can of gas. They were hoping for a caution flag to give them time to open the rear deck to see if something was blocking the fuel intake. As the laps continued, they had to come down. They were 10 gallons shy according to MRN on the previous stop.<\/p>\n
They’re saying there’s still something wrong with the the fueling for the 78 car. They were able to get the first can in, but only half of the second can. They think its an issue with the coupler.<\/p>\n
Twenty-six cars on the lead lap on the restart. Martin Truex took the wave around.<\/p>\n
Green flag pit stops are underway on lap 172.<\/p>\n
Caution is out on lap 177 of 267 as ‘Kutey’ Kyle Larson is in the wall.<\/p>\n
Kasey Kahne had to make a second pit stop due to contact when leaving pit road that caused a left rear tire to go down.<\/p>\n
Chase Elliott was on pit road twice. He said it felt like something broke and they brought him back down and changed tires again. Chase said the car seemed like it was swaying.<\/p>\n
Chase and Kasey had cording on the left rear tire on the same lap.<\/p>\n
Caution out for Brad ‘It’ Keselowski who tried to ride out a tire rub. He goes around on lap 190 of 267. He went into the grass and tore up the front of the car.<\/p>\n
Caution on lap 220 of 267 for another issue from ‘It’. He might have blown up that time.<\/p>\n
Austin ‘Frankenstein’ Dillon beat the field off pit road with a two tire stop. Last time he was up front without good tires he caused a huge wreck. I’m not feeling good about that pit call.<\/p>\n
Caution on lap 233 of 267 for Regan Smith getting into the wall.<\/p>\n
Chase Elliott slowed on the track looks like he has a tire down with 22 laps to go. He’d just gotten the free pass on the last caution.<\/p>\n
