Great going rookie!

Caution on lap 50 of 188 for Dale Earnhardt Jr losing it and getting into the wall. Kasey Kahne was caught up in it as did Matt DiBenedetto.. Looks like David Gilliland got some damage in that incident also. Both Dale Jr and Kasey have heavy damage.

Denny Hamlin got into the back of the 16 of Greg Biffle who was coming in for a pit stop as Denny was leaving.

Caution on Lap 59 of 188. Apparently the 22 of Joey Logano slammed into the back of the 78 of Martin Truex Jr which caused Michael Waltrip to go below the yellow line. He then came up onto the track and side swiped Casey Mears sending him spinning and sending Aric Almirola spinning.

They’re under the impression they’re racing to halfway since there’s rain in the area. Looks like the first batch might miss the track.

Just saw a new Dale Jr Nationwide commercial – he’s an animal lover – very cute. Dale makes entertaining spots due to his affable personality. Good job Junebug.

They’re saying there are a few sprinkles here. We’re now on lap 92. Chad said the bigger rain is about 10 minutes out. They will have to determine if they can dry the track before the big rain comes.

Just passed halfway.

Big wreck. The 34 of Chris Buescher rolled down the track . The 48 got a lot of damage as he got loose, then was clipped by the 22 sending him spining into the infield. The 19 of Carl Edwards got some of it as did the 46 of Michael Annett who hit the infield SAFER barrier hard. Seven cars were involved. In the replay it seems the roof flaps never deployed though I wonder since the car rolled on its roof so often. David Gilliland got pinned against the wall in the incident, but stayed out on the track during the caution so he’s actually leading the race. Jamie Mc apparently got into the back of Austin Dillon pinning David Gilliland against the wall.

David Gilliland has gone into the pits leaving Kevin Harvick as the leader. Annett thinks the 31 (Ryan Newman) didn’t check up when he did sending him into the 34 and resulting in a hard hit. Annett hit in the same spot that someone did yesterday during the Xfinity race. It’s an opening to allow safety trucks to enter the track.

Back underway on lap 103 of 188.

Buescher said that’s the first time he’s been on his roof in a stock car. He just ‘wants to go home’. He’s not a fan of super speedway racing this season having lost a car in both.

Lap 110 of 188 the caution comes out as Dale Jr hits the wall again and is on fire. Dale is out of the car in the grass. Carl Edwards just suddenly came up from the bottom of the track into Dale Jr slamming him into the wall. Carl said the toe was knocked in during the wreck with Chris Buescher and he said he had a vibration but wanted to run the car around until they could figure out what was going on to make some changes. The spotter thought they might have a tire rub. The way that car came up he might have lost the right front tire and Dale Jr was in the very wrong place at the wrong time.

Carl said they’re not sure what, but something let go.

Dale said his steering wheel came off under caution and he just grabbed the column and steered to keep it out of the wall. Then put the steering wheel back on. Jr said he thought it would tear up his hand, but he wasn’t going to let it hit the wall. Remarkable.

Trevor Bayne continues to lead the field. Good going Trevor!

Caution is out with 81 to go for something that happened with Kasey Kahne leaving him in the infield grass. Something broke on Kasey’s car it appears as he hit the wall hard. He said on the radio the car just veered right.

Denny Hamlin got into the back of Landon Cassill and spun around on pit road necessitating a 360 to get into his pits.

I have to say at this point, I’m looking forward to when Boss Man fires that lying, tricksy hobbit employee of his that puts lobster mac ‘n cheese in his garbage can and constantly lowers his chair. As an office worker I understand how not funny that can be. I like that series of commercials overall, but a bad apple/untrustworthy employee causing problems is not as amusing as the other spots.

Kasey said the car had a lot of damage and was moving all ove the track and he just lost it.

Caution comes out with 37 to go for the 23 of David ‘Thrilla from Unadilla’ Ragan going up in smoke.

Lap with 28 to go as Kurt Busch puts Jimmie into the wall pushing in his left rear. 13 cars got through the wreck, everybody else was in it.

Jimmie heads to the garage. Some of the cars involved in the wreck made repairs and stayed out some headed to the garage.

The race restarts with 22 to go. There were 17 cars involved in that wreck.

Caution is out with 20 to go for debris.

A NASCAR official is arguing with Chad Knaus it appears about whether the 48 is ready to return to the track. Jimmie just left the garage.

Restarting with 17 to go.

Caution is out with 8 to go as as Danica hits the inside wall hard and Kenseth also hit the inside wall hard. Danica’s car flamed up and she got out pretty fast and walked to the infield wall then bent over possibly with the breath knocked out of her. Kenseth’s car rolled over onto the roof, slid for a while under the roof along the wall, then flipped back onto its wheels. Michael McDowell went into the 43 of Aric Almirola. McDowell hit the wall, Almirola spun into Logano.

Mike Joy has on a beautiful tie. DW and Big Daddy look very nice also, but Mike Joy’s tie is notable.

Big crash as they came to the checkered flag. ‘It’ wins.

Pretty good race in spite of everything. Usually a race to halfway is an exercise in watching cars log laps and this one started out that way, but eventually they started really racing and things improved.

The 38 of Landon Cassill and Cole Whitt went for the same spot sending Cole Whitt into Kevin Harvick and Ricky Stinkhouse Stenhouse piled in. Stenhouse has been looking better these days. His luck isn’t much better, but the car has been allowing him to show his driving skills a bit more than it has in the past couple years. AJ Allmendinger got some of that.

Kyle Busch finishes second. Chase Elliott finishes fourth.

KHarv said Landon Cassill tried to cause a wreck for the last 40 laps and finally did. KHarv ended up on his side against the wall.

Jamie Mc finished fifth.

Matt Kenseth had some words for Joey Logano after the race. Joey laughed it off.

Joey wouldn’t really address Harvick’s words to him.

There were eight cars involved in the final crash.

Danica said she got an x-ray which was a concern. She said that was the worst time she hit the inside wall at a super speedway. She said she hurt her foot and her arm.

AJ was on his knees when he got out of his car after hitting the inside wall in the last lap crash.

Ryan Blaney finished ninth.

Jimmie Johnson wound up 22nd, just ahead of Matt Kenseth and Danica Patrick.

Three of the next four races are under the lights, including next week’s Kansas race.

Next Race: Kansas

Go 48!!!

29 years to the day after his father won the pole at Talladega, rookie Chase Elliott will lead the field to the green flag.
