Sprint Cup qualifying was rained out so Aric Afterburner got the pole since he was the fastest car in practice. Jeff Burton is on outside pole.

Truck race was orderly overall as Matt Crafton said his strategy was to ride around until the last 20 laps then go racing and that’s pretty much what happened. There were a few wrecks, including a 12-truck crash on the last lap that took out most of the front of the field. Johnny Sauter emerged victorious. 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-One Charlotte

201310121955717178066fullThe best part of this weekend was having Darrell Waltrip in the booth instead of Petty Kyle. Unfortunately that trend did not continue through Race Day. If only we could have race coverage with Petty Kyle or Larry McNuggets, it would be an improvement in coverage. If they could take Brad Daugherty with them it would be a much better Race Day. I really miss the old days of Speed when we would have the pleasure of Truck or Nationwide coverage on Thursday. Flip channel to FS2 (or FS1, whichever). Danielle Hot-to-Trotta (seriously, what on Earth is she wearing? Did anyone tell her she was going to work – in a studio, not a club?) throws it to Rick Allen. Thank goodness no Adam Alexander this week! Hooray!! Crap! Petty Kyle and Larry McNuggets. Mute. Time to find something to do to kill time until Cup practice is over. NASCAR Sprint Cup Michael Waltrip Racing Penalties Post Richmond Race

Clint Bowyer spun out after some weird radio chatter resulting in a restart which changed the complexion of the race. Martin Truex Jr. got into the Chase in a tiebreaker at the end of the event.
