2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Twenty-Two Watkins Glen

Tony Stewart went Sprint Car racing last night. It went badly. After an on-track incident which put Kevin Ward Jr. into the wall. Ward got out of his car and wandered down the track toward the circling field. As Smoke’s car came by he moved closer to express his displeasure and ventured too close to the right rear wheel of Tony’s car and was struck. The 20-year-old has died of his injuries. May those impacted by his death find peace. Continue reading “2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Twenty-Two Watkins Glen”

2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Twenty Pocono

NASCAR has decided to move race start up 15-20 minutes due to weather in the area. Mike Wheeler is taking over for Darian Grubb today on the FedEx 11 car of Denny Hamlin since Darian has started serving his 6 race suspension for failing post-race tech inspection last week.

Boring race from Iowa last night for the Nationwide Series.  Brad Keselowski crossed the finish line first. He had the nerve to say in his post-race interview he “knew a lot of people wanted a Nationwide regular in that car, but it just didn’t work out like that for them”.  He would’ve been much better served to have kept his mouth shut on the subject, because that statement is just crass.  Of course that’s frequently the case with him. 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Eighteen Daytona

It’s been rainy in Daytona today. I tuned in to MRN to hear the quality pre-race show and was bummed to hear that this is Barney Hall’s final play-by-play call. It seems I became a NASCAR fan just in time to learn to love it and the people involved and then to watch it all go away.

I eagerly anticipate listening to MRN broadcasts to hear Barney Hall, because he’s the best, the quality. If its good for Barney, his next move, I’m happy for him, but I will dearly miss him and his mastery of his job. It seems all the quality is leaving NASCAR. I wondered how things would change when Bill France died. It seems I’m getting the answers as time goes on and things change for the worst and the best of NASCAR leaves. Sigh.
