Beautiful day at Talladega Motor Speedway. I’m sure its around the same temp as here, so that precludes me from sitting in the grandstands. I get cold far too easily these days to be in the grandstands with the temperatures in the mid 60s. The first race I saw was about that and it was too chilly to not wear a jacket and baking in a jacket when the sun was out. Quite uncomfortable. Of course everyone I’ve met at the track says the Talladega race is best watched on television due to the size of the track. Continue reading “2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-Two Talladega”
2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-One Charlotte
The televised coverage of the race on ABC starts at the competition caution on lap 25. The entire pre-race show and the first 30 minutes of the race were lost to a college football game. ESPN is screwing NASCAR left, right, and center on their way out the door. Continue reading “2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-One Charlotte”
2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Twenty-Nine Dover
It is sunny in Dover for the first elimination race of the Chase. At the end of this race four Chase drivers will be eliminated from the Chase for the Cup. I’m still not digging this format. To a large degree nothing matters until Homestead. That puts luck way too much at the forefront. With the usual suspects in every field leaving it all to one race doesn’t seem fair to me. It might work out fine, but the format and the qualifying format has seriously put a damper on my season. I’ve not been to a race this season and it doesn’t look like I’ll get to one. I was going to try to make Homestead, then I realized, if the Champion is determined by a fluke I would be so disgusted and disappointed it might completely kill my NASCAR love. 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Twenty-Eight Loudon
Cloudy in Loudon. Cole Custer, 16 years of age, won his first truck series race yesterday. Since the Cup guys are in Loudon, Kentucky was lite on Cup guys making for a more interesting finish than usual. Brendan Gaughan’s experience netted him the win. 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Twenty-Six Richmond
Its cloudy in Ricmond tonight, looks like rain. I’m hoping to be able to stay awake through tonight’s race to see the 2014 Chase field. For the past few weeks I’ve slept through most of the races. It was kinda tough not going to the Atlanta race. I miss track time. I love being at the track, but it feels as though they’re going cheap and I couldn’t justify spending my hard-earned money on an event that feels like someone shortchanging me.
