2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race One Daytona

It will be a Busch-less Daytona 500. Kurt lost both of his appeals yesterday and remains suspended indefinitely. He will have a Road To Recovery program provided by NASCAR, but the question remains will any sponsor touch him? Since Chevrolet has cut ties with him, will any manufacturer want anything to do with him? Kyle is in the hospital following surgery for a compound fracture of his right leg that occurred in yesterday’s Xfinity Series race. Kyle’s car hit a concrete wall. Kyle also broke his left foot. Team Owner Joe Gibbs says they’re keeping an eye on that, but there’s no rush on getting it taken care of and they’ll probably wait until he’s back in Charlotte to take care of that. Get well Kyle Busch. Good luck Kurt Busch. Continue reading “2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race One Daytona”

2015 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race One Daytona

Congratulations to Tyler Reddick on his first Truck Series win last night. Heavy clouds in Daytona promise rain though it is warmer than it has been the past few days.

The rain came during Xfinity qualifying, but passed relatively quickly.

KHarv is in the booth doing color. He’s quite good. It is so refreshing to hear someone who sounds excited about the race, but isn’t yelling and losing their minds intermittently. He sounded as though he was watching the same race I was watching. He was enthusiastic, informative, and generally delightful. Continue reading “2015 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race One Daytona”

2015 NASCAR Truck Series Race One Daytona

Breaking News before the Truck Series got underway – NASCAR has suspended Kurt Busch indefinitely after a Delaware Family Court issued an order of protection for Patricia Driscoll following an incident after the Fall 2014 Dover race. I said when she showed up in Kurt’s life, don’t sleep with crazy. All of this madness is just one example of why I consider that a rule to live by. 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Daytona 500 Pole Qualifying

ROUND 1A

So, with less than two minutes on the five minute clock Reed Sorenson and Clint Bowyer end up in the wall. Bobby Labonte was collected as was Denny Hamlin and JJ Yeley.

Hard to tell if Clint Bowyer hit Reed Sorenson or what. There was a mad rush to get onto the track – no one wanted to go out onto the track first, then everybody rushed out at the same time and was jostling to get onto the track resulting in some contact before they really got going. 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Sprint Unlimited

It’s chilly in Daytona. The Atlanta metro area is under a winter storm watch. We’re a few hundred miles north of Daytona (over 400) so the weather here is definitely colder, but often its relatively similar. That’s one of the reasons I don’t really consider going to a night race in Daytona – too cold. I love warm weather and avoid cold weather as much as possible. I believe the next place I live will be much warmer.

It’s so good to see Mike Joy and Darrell Waltrip. I’ve missed them in the off season. Today I got to see some of the new hires. Nice to see Vince Welch land a gig. I was lamenting losing him with ESPN so its cool that he’s with the A team on FOX. It was also nice to see Jeff Hammond and JR on the desk earlier today. Kenny Wallace seems to be back in good form, along with Phil Parsons. Continue reading “2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Sprint Unlimited”
