NASCAR has a new qualifying format for Talladega – SINGLE CAR RUNS!!! Dude!!! Finally!!! I so miss the single car qualifying. It’s single car, single lap, which is different, but at least we can see everybody qualify and not a whole lot of sitting around on pit road playing strategy. Jeff Gordon won his 80th career pole. Congrats Big Daddy! Continue reading “2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Ten Talladega”
2015 NASCAR Xfinity Race Nine Talladega
Glory Hallelujah, the Xfinity Race is on FOX so we can actually watch it – instead of Championship Darts! Starting with a wreck on lap two the race at Talladega has been a bit of a mess. After a couple of early cautions, the field settled into single file racing for a while, then the chaos revved up again.
Later in the race on lap 73 of 113 a big wreck resulted from people slowing up to go to the pits and getting run over by people behind them. During the melee Brendan Gaughan hit the pit wall and injured two pit crew members of Aric Almirola’s 98 team. One was taken to the infield care center, the other has been transported to a local hospital. Continue reading “2015 NASCAR Xfinity Race Nine Talladega”

2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Eight Bristol
It’s raining in Bristol. They’re doing a few features and driver interviews during the rain delay. The race was renamed in honor of Steve Byrnes to the “FOOD CITY 500 IN SUPPORT OF STEVE BYRNES AND STAND UP TO CANCER“. Get well Byrnesy!!! We miss you desperately. Your professionalism, talent, skills and fun are unmatched leaving NASCAR programming lacking. It was lovely to see all the crews holding up signs that read ‘I Stand Up For Steve‘.
The Gordon kids, Ella and Leo, gave the command to start engines standing next to their Papa’s car. It was sweet. Continue reading “2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Eight Bristol”
