2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Eighteen Kentucky

Cup qualifying, and the test, was rained out in Kentucky so they will line up according to practice speeds. There was a spectacular race the other night in the truck race. Ben Kennedy ended up on the wall and damaged the catch-fence. He was shaken up, but okay after the race. It was an ugly wreck. The Xfinity race last night was mostly boring. I’m not expecting much from tonight, but maybe I’ll be surprised. We’ll see. Continue reading “2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Eighteen Kentucky”

2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Seventeen Daytona

The NBC coverage is underway and my mute button is getting a workout. Some of the folks I was relieved to not see have turned up – like Rutledge Wood and Dale Jarrett. Sigh. I caught a few minutes of the Cup practice. Rick Allen, Steve Letarte and Jeff Burton didn’t require the mute button. The Xfinity practice has been a different story so far. Dave Burns, Petty Kyle and Dale Jarrett. Seriously? Yuck! There’s a girl, Kelli, on doing interviews who seems to be doing a good job. I hope she’s a bright spot. It’s early in my watching of the coverage though, so we’ll see how the weekend progresses. Continue reading “2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Seventeen Daytona”

2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Sixteen Sonoma

Last race on FOX. I will miss DW until February. I just don’t have much faith in the upcoming NBC broadcast team. For me, anyone that would hire Petty Kyle and Krista for broadcasting is less than reputable – going for cheap rather than quality. I might be surprised, but I have my doubts. At least we’ll be rid of Larry Mc in the booth. Now if we could get Michael Waltrip off the desk and not have him replaced by someone equally useless. It’s a beautiful day in Sonoma. They did a tribute to Jeff Gordon on lap 24 which was nice. Its hard to imagine a NASCAR season without Jeff Gordon. While I’ve only been watching NASCAR religiously since shortly before Jimmie won the third championship, and been listening since the second, I’ve watched and followed NASCAR off and on since I was a child, so I’ve known of Jeff Gordon since shortly after he began his NASCAR career. I’ll miss him driving. Continue reading “2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Sixteen Sonoma”

2015 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Fourteen Chicago

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!! Well, a day late, its time for the kids to race. The race was scheduled for Saturday night. Last night it rained about 30 minutes before the race was scheduled to begin. When coverage started the jet dryers were on the track. After about 10 minutes of watching them and listening to Adam Alexander, Mikey Waltrip and Larry McAlabama babble NASCAR postponed the race. Apparently there was a storm headed their way that stretched into Iowa. You could see lots of lightning in the distance. It was pretty, but as the National Weather Service warns, “If you can see lightning you’re too close.” Continue reading “2015 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Fourteen Chicago”
