It’s cloudy and windy in Vegas. The winds are blowing at 25-30 mph with gusts to 50 mph. The clouds are hanging rather low though the sun is shining currently. Kenseth says “there’s some rain coming in and out”. Myers says there’s a 25% chance of rain. The skies look quite threatening at the moment. 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Two Atlanta
It’s sunny and cool in Atlanta. Too cool for this Georgian to be sitting in grandstands so I’m sitting on my sofa in my cozy living room watching the race on television and enjoying feeling warm and seeing the sunshine.
Congrats to John Hunter Nemechek on his Camping World Truck Series win yesterday. It was a good race. It got a little crazy at the end with Christopher Bell losing it into Daniel Suarez, turning him into Matt Crafton. Suarez and Crafton were running second and first, respectively, at the time. Unfortunately it was a hard hit though he got out of the car and walked to the ambulance without assistance. Continue reading “2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Two Atlanta”
2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race One Daytona
Happy Daytona Day! It’s a lovely day in Daytona, breezy, but mild with temperatures expected to be in the mid-70s. Rookie Chase Elliott will lead the field to the green flag. Congrats to Chase on winning yesterday’s Xfinity race, beating Joey Logano to the green flag. Continue reading “2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race One Daytona”
2016 NASCAR Can-Am Duel at Daytona
Congrats to Chase Elliott on winning the pole during qualifying. Great going rookie!
Congrats to Dale Earnhardt Jr on winning the first, relatively uneventful, Can-Am Duel race.
Once again, Larry McReynolds is ruining the call. For some unknown reason he’s babbling away during the second race. I’m a fan of out-of-sight-out-of-a-job in his case. Why won’t they improve the broadcasts by leaving him out of it?
Jeff Gordon is doing okay so far. He’s easily rattled, but I’m sure that will ease up as he gains experience. He also will learn to keep it shorter. He has a bit of a tendency to go on a bit. In the times I’ve listened to him though, he seems to get better each broadcast. Go Big Daddy! Continue reading “2016 NASCAR Can-Am Duel at Daytona”
2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Sprint Unlimited
So the Super Bowl is history – mundo congrats to Peyton Manning becoming the winningest quarterback in history and the oldest Super Bowl winning quarterback and the comeback kid. So, normally, my mind would immediately turn to NASCAR. Didn’t happen. I hadn’t really thought much about the restart of racing until I was checking the list of recordings on my DVR looking for things to cull when much to my surprise I saw Sprint Cup practice. Does NASCAR need more coverage or does it need more talent? Continue reading “2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Sprint Unlimited”
