2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Race B Daytona

After a rainy day and no practice the 21 car field lines up for Can-Am Duel race number one. It’s 70 degrees, dark and breezy with a 17 mph wind. The Hendrick cars are split between the races.

KyBu is leading at the competition caution on lap 25.

Jamie McMurray has been all over the place – aggression in action.

Big save by Kyle Busch as Jamie Mc gave him a shove that got him very loose and resulted in some awesome driving as he saved the car and didn’t wreck anyone else though he lost momentum and his place in the field.

2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race ‘A’ The Clash at Daytona

The season kicks off with the Clash featuring the 2016 Chase drivers, the 2016 pole winners, one replacement driver – Daniel Suarez replaces the retired Carl Edwards. Dale Earnhardt Jr, as a previous Clash winner is qualified to run the race, but will instead call the race from the booth. Alex Bowman is in the Clash having won a pole last season. Since the Chase will now be called the playoffs that language is being used to describe the folks qualified for the Clash. Droll. Smoke qualified for the race, but since he’s retired he won’t compete. Personally I’m not digging the idea of everyone that made the Chase being qualified. 2017 ARCA Racing Series Race One Daytona

Clouds hover above the track as Kevin Lee and Phil Parsons begin the ARCA broadcast. Tom Hessert won the pole for the race. Austin Theriault will drive a full season for Ken Schrader Motorsports in the ARCA season. Nice. They’re putting covers on the cars as Austin is doing his pre-race interview. Some of the drivers are climbing into the cars. The on-air guys mentioned a few raindrops at the end of Daytona 500 practice, which ended about 30 minutes before the start of the ARCA race.
