Racing with Training Wheels

danica-patrick-94x125What the hell does Danica Patrick have that a real driver doesn’t – besides a co-joined sponsor? I understand that money talks, but jeez louise, in her case it seems to out-shout the room! Danica has yet to prove she is a more talented driver than a huge number of people who immediately come to mind. There are talented young (and not so young) drivers out there spending a lot of time in sub-standard equipment, struggling to make a race. She is a she and she’s willing to make soulless concessions but that shouldn’t be more important, hold more weight than actual racing talent.

2013 NASCAR PreSeason Thunder Daytona Testing Day 1

48 Daytona Testing Day 1Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth attempted to bump draft in the new car and now everybody is checking out the damage to the car. Denny will only be here today. Jordan is expecting his first child any day now and he wants to be there for the birth of the baby. It’s so good to see cars on the track. When I turned initially the 48 was going around. I’m not immediately loving the new car, but its kinda growing on me quickly. It’s so good to hear DW, Rick Allen and Jeff Hammond. JohnnyTV is JohnnyTV. Probably cheap though, like that Trotta chick, but not worth the money. Continue reading “2013 NASCAR PreSeason Thunder Daytona Testing Day 1”

2012 NASCAR Champions Awards

Tonight is the award show. I’ve been looking forward to it since it was announced. Imagine my disappointment to have my ears accosted by Danielle Trotta. Really????? I thought this event was as important to the sport as the Daytona 500, but the SpeedTV coverage indicates otherwise since none of the senior broadcasters deigned to appear on the show leaving it to beavis and butthead – I mean Danielle (ooops I forgot to try on my dress before the cameras rolled) Trotta and Rutledge – if that guy on Fox can be on a sports show and be considered funny so can I – Wood. NASCAR 2012 Week 36 Homestead Chase Race 10

Race day is mostly sunny in Homestead. Joey Logano has the pole. He wrecked in practice yesterday and had to go to a backup car, so he will start at the back instead. That allows Brad Keselowski who qualified third to start on the front row. Jimmie qualified tenth, but he seems pleased with the car. If Brad finishes 15th or better next week he wins the championship no matter what Jimmie does. If he leads a lap he has to finish sixteenth or better. If he leads the most laps he has to finish seventeenth or better. Jimmie has his work cut out for him, but, as he says he has nothing to lose. The Awards ceremony will air November 30th according to the commercial. Continue reading “NASCAR 2012 Week 36 Homestead Chase Race 10”
