201307281400504392658Partly cloudy on race day in Indianapolis. Always a pleasure to hear Mary Hulman George give the command. I don’t know why, but she’s my favorite Indy tradition. It’s the 20th anniversary of NASCAR at the Brickyard. The hype has been big – though nothing compared to the insane hype for the Mudsummer Classic. It absolutely DID NOT live up to the hype. Heavy trucks, driving realitively slowly on the mud. As Dave Blaney said the Dillon boys had the advantage with specially made trucks for the event, so, of course, Frankenstein won. 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Nineteen Loudon

Brian Vickers, Jimmie JohnsonLoudon Nationwide race. Okay. KyBu starts the race running away with it and stinking up the show. First pit stop he has a little issue and doesn’t win the race off pit road. Matt Kenseth’s car is crazy sideways. He’s working hard to get his chance to stink up the show. For some reason I have a major issue with him running this series. Maybe it has to do with the fact that Cup drivers in the Nationwide races don’t seem to improve Elliott Sadler’s lot. 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Seventeen Kentucky

Jimmie JohnsonThursday night Truck Racing! The trucks take the track on this Thursday night. The race was pretty good. Unfortunately Michael Waltrip was in the booth and under the mistaken impression that we, the audience, wanted to hear what he loves about … He never shut up!!! I know he’s from Kentucky and I wished he was visiting family instead of rattling on and on about what he loves…He loves that the infield at the track is big with lots of room for kids to play…he loves how hard the drivers drive…he loves ‘x’ pit call…he loves young guys in the truck series…he loves…it was never ending!
