2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Thirty-One Talladega

Kurt Busch (41) has the pole on a sunny race day. ‘KuBu’ is really pumped to have his first pole at the track and says he hopes to lead the first lap. ‘KuBu’ was in the radio booth during yesterday’s Truck race and did a great job. He was informative and entertaining and a welcome relief from the shouting of the MRN guys. While we know they’re usually watching the television broadcast during their calls, we started wondering if they were watching the same race. The race was enjoyable, but not exciting and they were losing their minds on the radio. It was strange. I was thoroughly enjoying watching it – but just could not understand why they were yelling. Selling it too hard I think. They’re already starting it today, before the command to fire engines.

The stages for today’s race are 55-55-78. MRN says the high temperature will be 80-81 degrees today. Continue reading “2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Thirty-One Talladega”

2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Thirty Dover

Lots of clouds in Dover and a bi of a breeze. Jeff ‘Big Daddy’ Gordon is talking to Chase Elliott (9). It’s great to see him at the track and counseling a young Hendrick driver. Ryan ‘Son’ Blaney (12) appears to be letting his hair grow. Looks good. A choir performed the National Anthem. Nice. The stages for the race will be 120-120-160. After the pre-race ceremonies Big Daddy headed off, stopping to chat with Blaney on the way.

The 48 is having trouble with the right front wheel and has hit the pits on the pace lap. The wheel was wobbling. Jimmie headed to the garage. The wheel basically stopped turning and was just wiggling around.

Postman says a NASCAR official told him its a broken ball joint.

Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (18) and Kevin ‘KHarv’ Harvick (4) will start on the front row after qualifying was rained out. Continue reading “2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Thirty Dover”

2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race Twenty-Nine Charlotte part 2

After thinking further on the end of the race, I realized that if Jimmie had not made the decision he made the boring race would have ended with a ho-hum finish.

This is not to say I would not have been thrilled at Jimmie’s second place finish carrying him into the second round of the play-offs, I would have rejoiced. If that had happened though it would have been a less exciting end to a race that desperately needed an infusion of excitement. The race was BORING, BORING, BORING.

I am bummed that 2018 is not the year Jimmie Johnson will win his 8th championship.
Winning number 8 in 2019 is perfectly fine with me.

Next Race: Dover

GO 48!!!!
