Pontypool Rocks!

I get home from work; exhausted and stressed. I turn on the television and check out the offerings on the channel guide. I see the following description:

Pontypool
Movie, Horror, Suspense (2008) Stephen McHattie, Lisa Houle.
A virus that spreads through the English language turns people into zombies.

Since I’m not quite ready to dive into anything else I decide to give it a try. This is an amazing movie. For anyone who loves movies, interesting, quirky movies, this one is a must see. I expected a zombie movie, but I didn’t expect anything more. This one has a bit more to offer. Check out Pontypool the next time you have the opportunity.

Fall 2010 Atlanta

Atlanta Motor Speedway. Labor Day 2010. Blue skies, temperature in the mid 80s with a cool breeze wafting across the vast expanse of track, grandstands, parking and camping areas. What a lovely day for a race!

Since it has been announced that Atlanta will no longer host two NASCAR races per season the Labor Day Race is now, not only the last summer party weekend of the year, it is also the ultimate event for Georgia (Alabama and Tennessee) NASCAR fans. It seems NASCAR couldn’t figure out that race attendance might be low if people never knew if it would be snowy, hot, cold, rainy, tornadic, or a all of the above on race day and decided to cut the Spring race from the Sprint Cup schedule. Austin Dillon, grandson of Richard Childress, dominated the Camping World Truck Race in Iowa, starting on the pole and taking the checkered flag in his first career Truck Series win. Dillon had to survive a green-white-checkered finish after a caution was thrown just before the white flag lap for debris from Jason White’s truck. RC was at the race having flown from Chicago.

Baby J (Baby Girl Johnson) has a name! The couple who can’t decide where to have dinner on an off-night, tweeted the decision to world. Her name: Genevieve Marie Johnson. Continue reading “Sunday, post Chicago, pre Off-Week”

2010 Summer Chicagoland Saturday

As we reach the halfway point of the NASCAR season, a surprise winner emerges in the Windy City (well, near the windy city to be more precise) MWR’s David Reutimann. It was a very emotional win for Reuti-Tooty and the Legend Buzzy Reutimann was there to experience the celebration. While this was Reutimann’s second career win, nobody but the announcers seem to really count the first one – a victory in Charlotte when the race was ended by rain and Reutimann didn’t pit with the leaders. Congrats to Reutimann and Michael Waltrip Racing. Continue reading “2010 Summer Chicagoland Saturday”
