2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-Four Texas

Beautiful day at Texas Motor Speedway. Clouds pass over occasionally. The time changed last night so we’ll probably hit darkness before the end of the race. Matt Kenseth leads them to the green flag.

This race feels long. Cold weather arrived yesterday, so I’ve been busy making chili today, and the race has still seemed really, really long. Continue reading “2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-Four Texas”

2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-Three Martinsville

It’s a beautiful day here in the Atlanta metro area. I believe the weather is gorgeous in Martinsville also. The thrill is gone for me. The remaining Chase contenders are either folks I don’t want to see win, or folks I don’t particularly care if they win. I’m really glad I don’t have tickets to Homestead now.

Congratulations to Darrell Wallace Jr on winning yesterday’s Martinsville Truck race driving a Wendell Scott tribute truck. Great going kid! Continue reading “2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-Three Martinsville”

2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-Two Talladega

Beautiful day at Talladega Motor Speedway. I’m sure its around the same temp as here, so that precludes me from sitting in the grandstands. I get cold far too easily these days to be in the grandstands with the temperatures in the mid 60s. The first race I saw was about that and it was too chilly to not wear a jacket and baking in a jacket when the sun was out. Quite uncomfortable. Of course everyone I’ve met at the track says the Talladega race is best watched on television due to the size of the track. Continue reading “2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-Two Talladega”

2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Twenty-Nine Dover

It is sunny in Dover for the first elimination race of the Chase. At the end of this race four Chase drivers will be eliminated from the Chase for the Cup. I’m still not digging this format. To a large degree nothing matters until Homestead. That puts luck way too much at the forefront. With the usual suspects in every field leaving it all to one race doesn’t seem fair to me. It might work out fine, but the format and the qualifying format has seriously put a damper on my season. I’ve not been to a race this season and it doesn’t look like I’ll get to one. I was going to try to make Homestead, then I realized, if the Champion is determined by a fluke I would be so disgusted and disappointed it might completely kill my NASCAR love.
